    When you hire a caterer for a wedding does a person tip them? Got a wedding coming up and was trying to budget.

    You might find that the tip or gratuity is built into the bill. So they tell you how much to tip

    We had a local catering business cater for a large family get together. At the bottom of the bill it stated:  
    Not mandatory but suggested 15% gratuity.

    Of course I would tip them, just as I would tip for a meal at a restaurant, a meal delivery, or a take-out meal.

    As you are hiring a business and they hire any staff required.  
     
    Tipping is not required.  
     
    Check out your contract as they may include gratuity in your contract.  
     
    Note the gratuity may or may not be split with the staff themselves. Or just kept by business.  
     
    Tipping is out of control.
