Sobeys and the Air Miles program

I thought sobeys and air miles are partners. I get coupons from air miles encouraging me to shop there and then when I have enough miles I get to redeem for money off my bill. Except that sobeys will not honor the coupons air miles send out on their behalf. They pick and choose what they will. If you have a coupon to get 10 miles for buying a certain thing they will. But if you have a coupon that will save you $1 or 50% of the item they won't. Why would they email me coupons for sobeys and sobeys not accept them? Seems if they are partners they should have a conversation and be on the same page...

hm

Doesn't it say right at the checkout they won't accept computer generated coupons? Might have something to do with that. I've never had trouble with the coupons air miles mails me but I've never tried to use one from an email

have you checked

to see if the coupons are for Sobeys or Safeways? I had been getting printed coupons for Sobeys and then they were switched to Safeways! Now I get no offers for deals at Sobeys. I wish the offers would be for either store and not for one or the other!

Safeway or Sobeys

The coupons say they are valid at Safeway or Sobeys. Most of the time the offers are loaded electronically but sometimes they email me other offers that need to be printed. Sobeys will honor only the coupons that have air miles, not when you would save $1 because it more so directly affects them?

I have used them before. But now they won't take some of them. It seems wrong to me to send out coupons which may get people to the store and then say just kidding we're not honoring that.

The OP stated the coupons were mailed out from the airmiles company, not computer generated coupons, or from email as you had stated.

I get these coupons in the mail all the time and haven't had a problem using them. It's too bad they won't accept certain coupons, they should have to accept the coupons generated by airmiles since they are affiliated with them.

email

the email coupon offers I get are then loaded (by me) onto my air miles card. when I buy the item and present my air miles.card the 50% or whatever discount comes off my bill automatically. it has been a very very long time since I have received any email coupon that I have to print.

I just read the "fine details" on my email loaded coupons as noticed they did not give me the airmiles for purchasing milk (which has always worked in the past). Now I see it says (though probably have never read it before!) that is says not valid at Sobeys Liquor store. So I wonder if they just changed that, as that is the (west end) one that I shop at?!

I used my email loaded coupons today for milk at Westend Sobeys and received my bonus air miles. Did you remember to load them?

.

The ones that are electronic are still accepted. I haven't had any issues with those as I load them electronically so when I use at the store they are honoured because it's done automatically.

The odd time they send me paper coupons as well. If air miles is sending me the paper coupons on their behalf, how can sobeys refuse to accept them?

Yup they are loaded. Just went back and it's not been redeemed (even though bought milk last night). There was some comment on my receipt under "airmiles earned" telling me I did not get airmiles. I wonder if the clerk did not properly scan my card if yours worked.

Some cashiers like to scan your air mile card at the beginning of the transaction. I like when they do this as you can see the items and know you did get your miles.

I would go back today and tell them. They are very helpful and will change it.

Coupons

Some of these are national coupons as there is no Safeway down east. Safeway is Kenora and west.

My Offers &; Airmiles

"My Offers" is a Sobey's/Safeway site. Coupons loaded 10AM on Fridays to replace any redeemed or expired. Should you load an offer and not receive same just call the My Offers site and they will correct, no problem. The store itself can not help you. Depending on where you do your big shop dictates which store you get the newest offers. Carefully watch the coupon's designated store. I agree they should be interchangable.
