Swift Current, SK (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings got redemption on Saturday night as they bounced back with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Swift Current Broncos.
The Broncos capitalized on an early powerplay to open the scoring in the first. Tyler Steenbergen notched his 32nd of the season just 5:57 into the first to give the Broncos the lead.
Baron Thompson would tie things up on a nice re-direct in front, before Caiden Daley gave Brandon their first lead of the night just moments later.
After a scoreless 2nd period, the Broncos would tie the game on a powerplay. Aleksi Heponiemi found the back of the net for his 2nd point of the night to send the game to overtime.
In the extra frame, Ty Lewis would pick up his 2nd game winner of the season beating Logan Flodell over the glove side to lift the Wheat Kings to victory.
Logan Thompson was the star of the night turning aside 46 shots in a 2nd star performance.
Brandon will continue this six game road trip on Tuesday night in Red Deer. (7:30 pre-game show on Q-Country 91.5)
