McCreary, MB (CKLQ) – The McCreary Mustang Atom team has raised almost $13,000 to donate to the Ronald McDonald’s House in Winnipeg.
The 10-and-under team raised exactly $12,782.00 during a 14 game span over the regular season.
The idea was thought up of at the start of the year when the team thought it would be a good idea to give back.
The team ended up choosing the Ronald McDonald’s House, especially since one member’s cousin was getting treatment at the facility.
The team went to local businesses in and around McCreary for pledges.
Coach Syd Gower says it is a very giving community.
"It’s just terrific seeing every business get in on this fundraiser." said Gower.
He added he is very impressed that the kids got involved in this project, but he can’t wait to see their faces when they deliver the money in Winnipeg in a few months.
"I don’t think some kids realize what they just did," said Gower.
"But they will when we deliver the cheque."
The Mustangs had a very successful season as well, scoring 192 goals, which ended up at $57 raised for every goal.
