Steinbach, MB (CKLQ) – The Virden Oil Capitals let the end of the first period get away from them, which led to them eventually falling 6-1.
The league-leading Steinbach Pistons scored thee goals in 31 seconds near the end of the first period to put themselves up 3-0 at the end of the first.
The Pistons would add three more goals by the end of the game and Virden only scored once.
The two teams were the top two in the MJHL heading into the game.
Steinbach’s Drew Woran scored two goals and added two assists in the game, while Bradley Schoonbaert added three assists.
Goaltender Matthew Thiessen stopped 31 shots on the night.
With the win, Steinbach improves to 82 points on the year, while Virden drops to third in the MJHL with a Portage Terrier overtime loss.
Both teams have already clinched a playoff spot this year.
