Two men and a woman are dead after a driver lost control control on slick roads in the town of Hamiota, RCMP say.

Police responded to the accident at around 3:20 a.m. Sunday. Officers found five people in the pick-up truck and three were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to the hospital in Brandon for undetermined injuries.

The 23-year-old male driver died at the scene along with a 25-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. The condition of the other two passengers is unknown at this time, say police.

RCMP believe the driver lost control, skidded into the ditch and hit a tree. Road conditions were poor at the time and speed is suspected to be a factor in the accident.

Police say the names of the deceased are not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
