Officers confirmed Friday that a 56-year-old man died after his vehicle crashed into a Long & McQuade music store on Thursday.

The incident happened near the intersection of Stafford Street and Taylor Avenue around 8:40 a.m.

The vehicle crashed through a chain-link fence, took out part of a wooden barrier and then drove about another 80 metres before slamming into the building.

The man was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said officers.

Police said it appears the man suffered a medical emergency while driving, prior to the crash.

Officers continue to investigate.
