Dozens of Winnipeggers took to the streets for peace Saturday, calling on the government to end its combat role in Libya as Canadian and NATO fighter jets bomb Moammar Ghaddafi's compounds.

"We believe Canada's role in bombing Libya should end," says Glenn Michalchuk, chair of Peace Alliance Winnipeg. "We believe a peaceful solution should be sought there."

Marchers waved banners and chanted slogans on their march, which marks the 30th anniversary of the walk.

As a celebration of the milestone, the march was followed with an all day "Peace Festival" at Winnipeg's Vimy Ridge Park. Free food and entertainment was offered throughout the afternoon, followed by a keynote address from Jean Beliveau, who is on the home stretch of his 11-year World Wide Walk for Peace and Children.
