Melita is asking for volunteers to come load and fill sandbags along the aqua dikes as the town prepares for a rise in water levels on the Souris River moving north from the U.S.
The overflowing Souris River has already devastated the city of Minot N.D., where over 11,000 people have been forced from their homes after water breached the city's levees Wednesday.
Volunteers are asked to first report to Melita's town office or call 204-522-3413.
