Shuttle Driver - Part-time (Sunday & Monday)

This position works 13 hours weekly, Sunday (8:00 am - 1:00 pm) and Monday (8:00 am - 4:30pm) shifts. Starting wage $19.50 per hour.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities
? Transports residents to and from medical appointments, activities, shopping and errands using company owned vehicle.
? Assist residents in and out of shuttle in a safe and prudent manner
? Secure passengers? wheelchairs and seatbelts prior to trip.
? Practice safe driving techniques at all times for all weather and road conditions.
? Clean and service shuttle with fuel, lubricants etc.
? Report and coordinate shuttle maintenance repairs.
? Complete all applicable paperwork required.
? Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively problem solving.
? Deliver groceries, packages, and other belongings to resident suites.
? Assist Residents with minor maintenance requests.
? Participate and document facilities ongoing preventative maintenance checks.
? Assist the Wellness department in activities and programs, as needed.
? Ensure receipts/charges are submitted to reception for any shuttle expenses.
? Handle emergency situations and basic first aid.
? Maintain a safe driving record.
? Report potentially unsafe conditions and incidents.
? Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
Essential Competencies & Qualifications
? Class 4 Drivers License Required
? Five (5) or more years of driving experience
? Knowledge of vehicle preventive maintenance programs
? Current CPR and First Aid Certification required, or must be willing to obtain upon hire
? Excellent driving skills and habits, ability to read maps
? Ability to assist residents on to shuttle, securing wheelchair and seatbelts
? Demonstrated ability to multitask
? Exceptional time management skills, ability to prioritize
? Punctual and reliable
? Good judgment and ability to exercise discretion
? Ability to self-initiate and work well as a team member with a positive attitude
? Compassionate, courteous, and respectful
? Effective oral and written communication skills to work with older adults and their families respectfully and compassionately
? Excellent observational skills and ability to determine urgency or reportable incidents
? Strong aptitude towards the good health and safety of all residents, staff, and visitors
? Seek out and perform other duties as assigned
Other Requirements
? Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
? Maintain a professional, but functional, appearance in dress and grooming, as well as high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene
? Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
? A current and clear Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check & Child Abuse Registry Check, Drivers Abstract
