?? 7-Year-Old Mare ? Just Putting Feelers Out
I?m just putting some feelers out for our 7-year-old mare Rain and seeing if the right person may be out there for her.
I purchased her from the Grunthal Auction in 2024. When she came to us, she was extremely skinny and had clearly had a rough go. Since then, we have put weight on her, gained her trust, and spent a lot of time getting her to a much better place.
She is a very skittish, sensitive mare and does best with someone who is patient, quiet, and willing to take their time with her. She is not the type of horse you can rush, but she has made progress with us when given time and consistency.
A few things about her:
? 7 years old
-15.4 ish hands
? Picks up all four feet and has been recently trimmed
? Lunges both ways well
? We have saddled her
? Had someone on her in the fall of 2024 and she knew what she was doing
? Her auction paperwork stated she was broke to ride and drive, although we suspect she may have been more harness broke than riding broke
? We are selling her as very green and would consider her needing further training and miles
? She needs someone who is experienced, patient, and willing to put the time into her
She did require a Caslick procedure after we got her. She was stitched up, and our vet advised that she will not be able to carry a foal. When she came through the auction, she was quite torn up around the back end and still had milk, so we suspect she may have had a foal prior to being shipped to the sale.
She is not a finished riding horse and is not being advertised as one. We are simply looking for the right home/person who understands that she will need time, patience, and consistent work.
She has come a long way from the skinny, scared mare we brought home, and we would really like to see her go to someone who is willing to continue building on that.
