Job Summary:
Yard Attendants are responsible for the operation of the yard, including the loading and unloading of product, performing deliveries, the safe storage of product, the efficient handling of customer/contractor orders and the overall operations of the South End Lumber Timber Mart's material yard and on-site storage facilities.
A Yard Attendant's responsibilities consist of the following:
- Loading trucks with building material orders and delivering/unloading orders at customer or job sites.
- Ensuring all deliveries are loaded promptly to meet delivery schedules.
- Receiving, unloading and safe storage of product being shipped in from vendors.
- Providing friendly and helpful service to customers in the yard.
- Ensuring the yard is kept clean and organized, free of garbage and debris.
- Maintaining all inventory and ensuring products are kept organized.
- Utilizing safe work practices in carrying out yard duties.
- Stocking/re-stocking and labelling of all inventories.
- Building customer orders, including staging, loading and coordination of delivery.
- Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely (training provided)
- Perform other duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have a combination of the following:
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 to 75 lbs).
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Forklift certification is an asset (training will be provided if the candidate is not certified).
- Great communication and customer service skills.
- Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Have exceptional customer service skills.
- Be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Be willing to work Saturdays on a rotating basis with other yard employees.
