Summer Student: Child Care Assistant
Position Description:
The Shilo Military Family Resource Centre is located at Canadian Forces Base Shilo. We are seeking a summer student who is enthusiastic about working with children, enjoys the outdoors and who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Between the ages of 18 and 29, student returning to school.
- Proven experience with children
- Be punctual, reliable and have a positive, nurturing attitude
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Clear Criminal Record check and Child Abuse Registry check at hire
- Knowledge of MFRC and community services
- Ability to work alongside supervisor, as well as independently
- Bilingual skills an asset
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment

Responsibilities include:
- Implement programming for children
- The health and safety of children
- Engaging in play
- Spontaneous activities
- Communication with parents, supervisor and other staff
- Cleaning/daily duties/toy wash
Wage: $17.06 an hour
Hours: 35 per week
Other Compensation: Mileage compensation available if commuting more than 16km for work
Start Date: July 2nd - August 28th, 2026
