Goggle the model number and manufacturer to learn about all the features. There a tons of features. This was a top of the line model in it's day.
It can be vented to the inside (not recommended) or to the outside (recommended) or not vented at all. I'm replacing it because I have been using it vented to the inside. As such, it does nothing to remove odours and is inefficient at removing grease, which ends up on the cupboard doors above and the walls. I recommend venting it to the outside (parts not included) or without venting. I changed the interior filters frequently, and as a result the plasitc vent at the top is cracked. Replacement parts are no longer available. Having said that, venting it to the outside, or not using the vent means the plasic cover can stay in place. The cracks are on the top around the screws, so the vent looks perfect from the front. There are two aluminum filters underneath that can go in the dishwasher or handwashed.
The door latch broke once upon a time. I epoxyed it (replacement part not available) and it has worked flawlessly ever since.
