Looking to register a child for soccer for first time this year. Any opinions as to which organization is best? I read alot of bad stuff about brandon youth soccer(Not players or coaches but the organization (or lack there of) last year so a bit skeptical about them but also completely unfamiliar with galaxy soccer.

is an awesome learn to play environment. If you're looking to get your kids out & active without being super competitive they're the absolute best. I coached with them for quite a few years, 1st 1/2 of practice is learning skills and skill based games, 2nd half is against another team- it's a lot of fun and really good for kids/families who want to learn the sport, get out and have a good time without having to be super competitive. It's skills and fun focused.  
 
Be aware though they do not ever get a full field to play on, they divide it into grids 2 teams per section of the grid, and little nets with no goalie. Kids seem to have a BLAST

I second galaxy! Great organization. It is only available for children 6 and under however.

Is there still a BYSA or is it now Westman Regional Soccer Association? Or are they two separate entities? My kids have always played house league with BYSA, not interested in WFC. But BYSA last year was horrible!! I'm hoping there's something better organized this year.

Galaxy is a fantastic organization but is limited in the ages your child can participate. They are very well run and a good program. BYSA offers more options and a longer season.  
From what I understand BYSA still exists but Westman Regional Soccer Assoc. is like the top of the umbrella to govern them along with other youth soccer assoc in the area (rivers, Minnedosa, Neepawa). Hopefully this means things will be run smoother, but I've yet to hear a reply from a question I sent awhile back. They will be doing sign up at the mall next week so you could maybe get answers there.

The Westman Regional Soccer Association has taken a strong stand and has done a lot of work for Westman Soccer. All coaches and players in Westman will now have a technical director to help regulate soccer and teach. I am personally very excited for the youth soccer in Westman. My children are older and we have been through all the struggles with BYSA. WRSA is a assest and we WILL see change for the better. I feel that anyone with young children will see stronger and more confident soccer players then Westman has ever had !!

I’ve called in and BYSA can’t yet answer my question as to what days of the week certain age groups are playing. As a parent trying to coordinate a couple activities with sign up this weekend...I think it’s silly that their director still has not informed them of this. (That is what I was told by the employee on the phone) Having to wait in line this weekend at the mall sign up to possibly learn the scheduled day won’t work is a bit annoying. I feel they should know this by now...

It does seem like WRSA is FINALLY stepping up to try lay the law down HOWEVER it still falls on the local body (BYSA in Brandon) to organize things such as days of the weeks.  
 
My understanding is the BYSA still has the same (lack of) management at the helm, meaning expect another cluster you know what and do not go in expecting to get answers. Last year was an embarrassment, the first night half the teams didn't even have balls to play with or jerseys to play in. Quite often the frustration falls to the coaches who are literally just parents of players who happened to put their hand up. They get absolutely no support or notification from BYSA at all but take the brunt of it from parents. Luckily last year some were nice enough to bring their own equipment so the kids could actually play the first few nights.  
 
I implore you to choose Galaxy if your kid is the right age until BYSA can prove they can run something properly.

And have been frustrated too. We are going to try the new youth flag football that we have been hearing about. I’m going to talk to them at the mall sign up. I saw it on Facebook under Prairie Football League. Something new for the kids to try.

For responses. My child is 5yrs of age so I think we will do galaxy until no longer of age. Hope to read positive things about brandon youth soccer so I can be confident when my child is no longer of age to play in brandon galaxy league.

Sorry but I'm still confused....am I signing my kids up for BYSA or westman regional soccer association?? Just interested in house league, not WFC and too old for Galaxy.  
 
I saw on FB that Westman Regional Soccer Association had the nights posted that each age group played, but nothing about fees that I could see.

Westman regional soccer association oversees bysa and wfc, you would be signing up with bysa.

Interested in signing up my 5 year old for soccer this year. Is galaxy indoors or outdoors? When does BYSA registration start?

Galaxy is outdoors, played at Kirkcaldy Heights school. Main draw back is that street gets jam packed on soccer nights, prepare to walk a bit!  
 
BYSA online registration starts March 1st, or you can sign up at the mall this weekend. Based on BYSA history I'd be very surprised if any of this works as planned on time though.

Sorry for al the questions.. how do parents receive updates? Is there current FB up to date, as it hasn’t been updated in over a year.

If playing multiple sports this spring is a consideration, Brandon Minor Baseball has scheduled Rally Caps Programming (2012 and 2011) on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the École Harrison school diamonds. (5:30-6:30 and 6:45-7:45, they alternate) Galaxy Soccer is Monday and Wednesday. Boys and Girls welcome.
