Well it’s time for some wheat Kings chatter, it has been pretty quiet, so here’s my 2 cents. So mid season has arrived, and from what I have seen so far is I haven’t seen any improvement. We have no structure no break outs, pp and pk are terrible, now I know we have a young team but we have to be better. I am going to say it but I think the coaching is lacking. There are some players up to this point I have no idea what their role is on this team. I do not see the wheat kings doing anything this year, so it will be decision time at the trade deadline. I think trade Metheos, Patera, Burzan, and build a team around Grieg. Let’s hear it.

Tonight’s game was awful, although I do have to give Regina props on how they closed down the middle lanes and didn’t let the WK get many of their shots on net. Almost everyone looked flat footed out there and WAY too many penalties taken. With Matheos and likely McCorrister our for tomorrow’s game and we’ll see how many more, they will definitely be hurting in Regina.

I agree, start trading, since they will be lucky to make the playoffs and if they do will be lucky to make it past the first round. That being said, who is available?

The team has a lot of problems, but the really obvious one is that they can’t score. The bulk of our forwards are guys who score about a goal every 6 weeeks or so.

We have too much baggage right now, not going to mention names or numbers, but we have maybe 4 guys putting up points, then it drops right off.

need to clean house starting with the coach! There were some decent prospects on this team and they have made no improvement in their abilities. That in it's self is a coaching problem.

Yes our team this year is young and a bit underachieving in my opinion , but we were dealt a couple of blows right off the start of the season and surprisingly it was the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL that did the damage.
Can you imagine what the Wheatkings would look like with Goal scores Ty Lewis and Import Kaut (Cheq) in the line up.
We would be ribht up there with P.A.

There’s some players on the team that are getting power play and starting lineup on a Dailey bases that shouldn’t be out there. Too many guys not putting up the numbers that were expected. The wheat kings can but up offensive numbers when they got a full healthy lineup but need to really look at who deserves the ice time. Some players get way too much ice time for the points they are getting. Coaching change might help. I don’t think it’s a team that needs to be blown up but just move around some unsuccessful pieces.

We’re in a rebuild mode now, so might as well trade some of the older guys like, Mattheos, Higson, Thompson, Daley, Reinhardt, for some younger guys and draft picks. Might as well give our younger players more ice time and experience for next season.

Not sure if they pull off what happened last year but a few prospects and mid to high draft picks would be great.

Another disappointing game

That was ugly vs Moosejaw, seemed to me the Wheatkings are just showing up, we are getting run over by big and strong teams. Heard Mcrimmon was in the house tonight probably gonna shake it up. Because at this point the playoffs are not happening this year, time to clean house.

I did not like how the team played, forwards are not trusting the defense to bring the puck up or to get the puck moving forward so they hang back. I will trust Kelly on the management and see this as lots of injuries and will trust we will have a better team next year.

Just a reminder, as we approach the trade deadline there are bound to be rumours.... some false others maybe not. Generally speaking if claiming that a particular trade or roster move has been made there needs to be a source for it to give folks reading a better chance at telling fact from fiction. Just saying “I heard” doesn’t quite cut it. Thx

First trade of 2019 Everett Silvertips get Seattle top scorer 20 year old (Andrusiak) ..let the arms race begin for some and for others (Us) let the re-building begin again.

I keep hearing year in and year out that the Wheatkings are the most consistant team in the league for being in the playoffs and that may be true but my question is ......Are the Wheatking organization just happy to be in the playoffs ???
Sure we''''ve won the league championships 3 times in our Looong history ,,,but lets face it only one of those teams has even stood a chance at the Memorial cup and it was a long time ago (1979)

After reading the article in the paper this morning leaves one to wonder what the problem is , being a season ticket holder for many years seems the last few years the effort is not there by some of the players at different times . Perhaps the problem isn't the players on the ice but the GM and the coaching .

P.A just went all in and completed a blockbuster 6 piece deal with Victoria Royals landing there top player

What has Brandon done ????
Gotten weaker with the release of Higson

With the players we have and there young I say coaching is the issue , the young players just have not developed under Anning

Like every previous years, the Wheaties will wait to the last minutes to pull off thier trades. I predict 4 trades that will involve 5 veteran Wheaties leaving. In return there will be 6 draft picks,4 reasonable prospects and a couple of overagers.

With only two days left until the deadline and still Wheatkings haven't done anything to improve there chances of making playoffs.
Right now were sitting 4 points out of a playoff spot

Come on Armstrong make some moves .....move some of the dead wieght
and get some leadership that our club so desperately needs

Lots of moves in the Dub today .....but nothing so far from the Wheatkings ......Hmm just the one move yesturday to basicly replace Higson with Chizen.....
Thats not enough we need to do more

Yes i get that our team is loaded with young talent that we just should not move because there gonna be the future stars of our team ....but that being said in order for them to improve we need to at least get to the playoffs so they have some experience.

Maybe I've missed it, but the team will usually announce if/when there's nothing further to come. Remember last year the Clague and Kaspick trades weren't announced until more than a half hour after the deadline.

Yes i see that the trade with Ice just came through

Hopefully there's a move to get some leadership and some scoring still to come
