MYSA has chosen to not allow any spectators at all for any practices games and so on in age groups U9 and up. This isn't something that is being required by manitoba health but the associations own choosing. So sad in such a massive outdoor setting that not 1 single child per person is allowed as a spectator spread out along those massive fields.

Um, is MYSA even allowed to control who is at an outdoor space? Kids can play at a park, why would you not be allowed to be in that space? Even INDOOR hockey allows 1 parent per child. This is an OUTDOOR event. Seems backwards to me. What if a 9 year old child gets hurt? The coach is going to take them to the hospital? I doubt that. This is a safety issue for sure

People have demonstrated repeatedly that they can't follow simple rules. This is the surest way for MYSA to limit their liability and minimize the possibility of receiving a fine.  
 
If people could follow the VERY simple rules, this wouldn't be an issue. Blame it on the few spoiling it for the many, but that would be understating how many have been spoiling it.  
 
Follow the rules and we get out of this thing, then you can go watch all the youth soccer you can handle.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing personally, it’s supposed to be an activity for the kids anyway but parents are reliant on their kids’ pass time for their own entertainment. When it comes to youth sports I think having the parents removed will give the kids more of a freedom to play without the pressure of parents watching and will play for the pure love for the game.  
Sorry if this rubs you the wrong way but I think we need to re-evaluate what is important about YOUTH sports. And FYI I am someone very much involved in youth sports.

Thats the point of a discussion, to hear and try to understand others point of view on a topic. I can agree with you on some points such as that it is absolutely for the kids. Its not just that parents want to be there however. Children want their parent(s) to be their, to see them excel, to cheer on their accomplishments. My child is considering not playing because he wants to have someone in his corner cheering for him. He absolutely loves soccer, if asked about his school day all he talks about is soccer at recess. To see him give up on that because 1 parent can't watch is heartbreaking.  
 
I also understand that people have a tendency to break the rules if they aren't enforced. If bysa took steps such as brando hockey did at the keystone having someone walking around and actually enforcing that people be seated 6ft apart there should be no issue with 1 parent per child out in the open air and spread out over a vast area.

I think this is a great choice personally. Outdoor gathering size in public and private spaces right now is 10. That’s pretty much the team and coach right there. I think this is the responsible choice to make. At those ages, kids should be able to understand why this has to be at this time. And I understand why coaches, etc, wouldn’t want to be responsible for making people follow the rules. I’ve seen how people treat store staff & businesses for enforcing rules. They are there to coach the kids, not to make sure other people are following the public health order.  
Maybe try and watch from your car?  
And if your child is so excited about playing soccer at recess, and you aren’t there watching them during recess, remind them this would be the same. That they can fill you in on everything from soccer, like they do with their school days. And they won’t be the only one without someone rooting them on, all the kids will be in the same boat. The exercise, active kids and playing their favourite sports are the main things. . I understand that kids love to have their loved ones watching them, but for the time being, that’s not always possible.  
It’s a hard time for all of us right now.

Sports that have an approved return to play from the province/sport Manitoba are exempt from gathering sizes when actively engaged in organized games/practices.  
 
I do agree that limiting spectators is a good thing though, it minimizes mingling after the game and it's easier to maintain who people have come in contact with for tracing.

Youth baseball sent out an email stating a maximum of ten spectators per diamond, If things are made fair, that's five parents per team. How does anyone try to balance that? Kinda sucks when you drive out to Simplot Millennium Park, then to sit in your car while the kid plays/practice all the way out at diamond six. I get it, some people are completely careless and clueless. So, everyone else has to "pay the price" for their actions or potential. But, the rules are set and we'll abide to them until they change. And that's, that. However, the way the "third wave" and "variants of concern" is going, I'm more concerned that all of the organized sports this spring are going to fall apart by the actions from a Provincial Health Order. I'd rather have me sitting in a car on my phone in the parking lot than having my kids loose another summer sitting at home in front of a screen.

So zero spectators at soccer. 10 for baseball. 333 in a big box store. Wonder what the priority is?

Just got the rules last night for Minnedosa MYSA Soccer for U12.  
 
1 spectator per child.

Hopefully bysa follows suit.

I’m just happy my son and daughter can play ball!! I couldn’t agree more though that some of these rules make no sense. I have avoided going to Walmart and the Mall as much as possible because it’s too many people indoors. Lol with how windy we are at times you’d have to be standing pretty close to someone to inhale COVID!! I’ll put up with anything right now just so the kids can get out and play sports

Well, got another email today that Minnedosa is following the zero spectator rule. Apparently parents can wait in their vehicles.

Although full football and touch football won't be happening this spring, flag football is still going to happen. Their email says that the spectator rules will be one spectator/parent for each player and must always have a mask while distancing on the field. Anyone disregarding/disrespecting will be told to leave the field. It's not perfect (can't bring an entire family out to watch), but it works well enough for someone to watch. Beggars can't be choosers in these times, ya know.

To be honest, not trying to be pessimistic.. but be lucky if sports will be happening.. and if they do there is a high chance of it being cancelled.  
With the way MB numbers are going.. we'll be in stricter restrctions sooner than we may have thought.
