Game day thread: Lethbridge Hurricanes @ Wheat Kings, 7:30 PM
10/16/2009 at 11:19 AM
Lethbridge Hurricanes (3-7-1-0, 12th (Last) in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Cam Braes (5+7=12), Carter Bancks (3+8=11), Carter Ashton (6+2=8), Brent Henke (5+3=8)
Top scoring defenceman: Mike Reddington (0+6=6)
Probable starting goaltender: Unless there's an injury I don't know about, I'm going to guess former Regina Pat Linden Rowat (2-1-0, 2.98 GAA, 0.897) gets the nod with battery mate Ville Kolppanen having started the last game
Manitobans: Eric Mestery (Winnipeg)
Brandon Wheat Kings (5-4-0-1, 7th in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Jay Fehr (5+5=10), Scott Glennie (4+6=10), Brayden Schenn (1+8=9), Colby Robak (1+7=8)
Top scoring defenceman: Robak (1+7=8)
Probable Starting Goaltender: Andrew Hayes (5-3-0, 2.31 GAA, 0.920 save percentage)
Two years removed from one of the more competitive first round playoff matchups that I can remember, the Lethbridge Hurricanes bring a very different team to Westman Place. Without Zach Boychuk, Kyle Beach, Ben Wright, Mitch Versteeg and Colton Sceviour, the Canes are clearly in rebuilding mode.
Safe to say that regardless of whether or not newly acquired goaltender Jacob De Serres is in the lineup, Andrew Hayes should get the start in net.
I'll post scratches and lineups at the usual approx half hour before game time along with a few post-game pics. Would be great as always to hear peoples' thoughts on the matchup pre and post-game.
