11/6/2009 at 9:44 AM
Prince Albert Raiders (9-8-0-1)
Top scorers: Igor Revenko (13+12=25), Ryan Harrison (5+15=20), Brandon Herrod (8+7=15), Jordan Rowley (2+13=15)
Top scoring defenceman: Rowley (2+13=15)
Probable starting goalie: Garrett Zemlak (9-5-0-1, 0.916 save pct, 2.97 GAA)
Manitobans: Nil
Brandon Wheat Kings (10-7-0-2)
Top scorers: Jay Fehr (10+14=24), Brayden Schenn (8+13=21), Aaron Lewadniuk (8+13=21), Matt Calvert (9+11=20)
Top scoring defenceman: Colby Robak (2+11=13)
Probable starting goalie: Take your pick. Guess would be that De Serres (1-4-0-1, 0.882 save pct, 3.62 GAA) and Hayes (9-5-0-1, .903 save pct, 2.73 GAA) split today and tomorrow. Worth noting that the Raiders had their way with Hayes in the one head-to-head match so far this season (6-1 PA win). If forced to guess, I'd say Hayes since you'd typically see the de facto starter the first game at home after a big road trip.
First look at what could very well be a different Wheat King team after a lengthy 7 game road trip.
The Raiders are a much-improved team from last year and will no doubt be geared up for tonight's game, being just three points behind the Wheat Kings while also holding a game in hand.
This will be Paul Van de Velde's first home game as a Wheat King and as previously mentioned could potentially be Jacob De Serres' first home start.
Would be great to hear others' thoughts pre and post-game.
I'll have scratches and lineups approx 1/2 hour before game time along with post-game pics.
