Kyle Parrott (Speed skater)

is our local Olympic athlete. He was born in Minnedosa on December 13th 1985, and first saw speed skating in the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics.
He started speed skating in 1996 when he was eleven years old.
He trained in Brandon at the Westman Speed Skating Club that was founded by Pat Leech his first coach.
He now resides in Richmond, BC where he trains at the Richmond Olympic Oval with Coach Michael Crowe.
He has been a member of the National team for one year.
Some of his career highlights are:
* Finished 9th in the 1000m at his first World Single Distance Championships in 2009
* Skated in his first World Cup in Changchun in 2008 and his best result there was 14th in the 1000m
* Ranked 2nd in Canada in the 1000m and 5th in the 500m for the 08-09 season
* Sets personal bests in the 500m, 1000m and 1500m almost every year
* Finished 1st in the 1000m at the Canada Cup #1, Canada Cup #2, and the North American Championships in 2008
