Brandon Wheat Kings (27-13-0-2, 3rd in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Matt Calvert (26+29=55), Aaron Lewadniuk (21+30=51), Brayden Schenn (14+35=49), Jay fehr (19+29=48)
Top scoring defenceman: Colby Robak (8+33=41)
Probable starting goaltender: Jacob De Serres (9-6-0, 0.887 save pct, 3.55 goals against average)
The Wheat Kings will be looking to continue their recent red-hot home play tonight when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Brandon has scored exactly eight goals in three of their last four home games and 62 goals over their last ten home games overall... a span over which they've gone 9-1-0.
Since trading top prospect Carter Ashton to Regina, the Hurricanes have been playing better hockey..... going 4-5-0 including wins over Medicine Hat and Calgary.
With the WHL's trade deadline falling on Sunday, the Hurricanes are considered to be a "seller" that may trade a veteran player or two in order to build for the future. Depending on who you listen to players such as defenceman Mike Reddington and forwards Carter Bancks and Mitch Maxwell have been rumoured to be on the trade block. (A note to please keep trade talk in the thread "WHL Trade Deadline" except for chat specific to Lethbridge and any player on their team)
Stranger things have happened, but I wouldn't expect Brayden Schenn or Toni Rajala in the lineup quite yet with the World Juniors having just ended yesterday. I'll see if I can find out more.
I'll post lineups and scratches approx 1/2 hour before game time.
