Was just having a look at the standings and realized how close things were shaping up. With the Wheaties and Hitmen recent slumps, the blades have been able to put a few points between the 2nd seeded team. In 2nd right now are the Tigers with a narrow point lead over calgary, however the hitmen have 4 games in hand. Another team that has come flying up the standing over the last month and a half have been the Kooteney Ice. Thanks to a current 10-0-0-1 winning streak they are just 5 points back of the tigers, and have 3 games in hand. Has Kooteney emerged as a contender? Or are they an average team on a nice winning streak?
The next group (seeds 5-9) which is separated from the top 5, are only separated by 2 points. The raiders, warriors, rebels and broncos will most likely be considered underdogs come playoff time, but all of the top 5 teams have gone on losing streaks this season and it doesn't take much of a losing streak to cost you a playoff round.
Just for the record i don't think the hurricanes or oil kings will challenge for a playoff spot, and not even Jordan Eberle can save the Pats now...
