Telus Cup/PA wins
4/30/2007 at 2:18 PM
For the 2nd time in a row, the P.A. team won the Telus Cup........also impressively, they had to defeat the host teams twice in a row (the Wheaties then Red Deer) to win it.
One interesting thing though, and Craig Anderson pointed it out - this team gathers the best players from all over Saskatchewan, and I had a look at their roster which proves this. I think there was 2 players actually from P.A.
I'm not sure how their program works; maybe it's something like Notre Dame, where they pay for education and it's an elite program open to anybody (at least anybody who has about $30K a year to spend).
Ultimately, I think it's another big PLUS for the Wheat Kings, who have to already compete with the ever-shrinking number of Winnipeg teams (now 2 in a city of about 600,000??????), where our team is always competitive despite having only Brandon to draw from. When it comes down to the National championship, I guess it's teams with as many as a million population base to pick & choose from!
