CTV is now a powerhouse!!!

Two months ago, CTV won the rights to ALL CFL games on TSN and CTV. Now, CTV and Rogers have teamed up to take over NFL rights across Canada. After 25 years on Global, the Superbowl will now be on CTV (Not TSN...but CTV!!!) This moreless means better access to viewers, as CTV serves every province and many more cities).
Here is a rundown of the scheduling:
TSN:
CFL Friday nights, Saturdays day/night, Sunday mornings.
NFL Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights. Playoff games split with Rogers
CTV:
CFL playoff games
Grey Cup
NFL Sunday afternoons
Superbowl
ROGERS:
NFL Sunday night games to be shown on Omni 2 stations in Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Toronto (and if the sale is approved by then, A-Channel and CKX)
Superbowl playoff games split with TSN.
In terms of ratings, this will really hurt Global, as 37% of their 2006 advertising revenues came from the Superbowl. CBC will be hurting as they no longer have access to the CFL. Global will no longer have sporting events, and CBC is now limited to only hockey and rec sports.
Keep in mind too, the CTV/Rogers pact also has the rights to the 2010 and 2012 Olympics (you know, the 2010 in Vancouver). It hurts not seeing CBC show the Olympics from Canada. After seeing the CTV deals lately, I now know why Brian Williams left CBC to work at CTV/TSN.
An interesting tidbit: In todays Globa and Mail (page S5 or B1 I believe), there is an article about how much they paid for these rights (about $10 million for NFL, less than $50 million for Olympics), and I was shocked to see that the CBC paid $100 million to keep the NHL on CBC, as CTV had offered to make a pitch for them, too!
