Huge win for the Wheat Kings this afternoon. Combined with Swift Current's loss to Prince Albert, some very important points were picked up in the standings.
I thought this was one of Joe Caligiuri's better games of the year. You could just tell in the first 10 minutes that he was locked in.
I think I said this last time they were here, but Rowat from the Pats looks a lot better than his numbers so far would indicate. The goalie I saw tonight I wouldn't be shy in calling one of the tougher goalies I've seen this year to shoot on. Must be something about the Brandon water
Good to see Bartek hopping for a second straight game. I thought he was one of the better players on the ice.
Not good to see Scott Glennie leave the game. Did anyone see anything else happening.. or can we assume it was related to the collision with Pat defenceman Teubert a few shifts before?
Schenn.. what can I say? We're at the point where you almost expect him to have an impact on the game. Quite the hit he laid at the end of the one 2nd(?) period shift.. and quite the play to setup Glennie in the first even though he was robbed/couldn't quite get it up high.
Interesting to note that Pat sniper Eberle's penalty was his first of the entire season. A definite Most Sportsmanlike candidate... to be on the ice that often and go 20 games without going to the box once is pretty impressive.
Regina is still in first but in the middle of as tough a road trip as you'll get. After here they head to Medicine Hat and then tour the same US cities the Wheat Kings just got back from. We know full well how tough those games are going to be. Swift Current makes the US trip in a couple weeks. As long as the guys keep winning, you have to think there's going to be a real opportunity to make up more ground in the standings.
