Has anybody been out on rivers to check ice thickness yet?

I am waiting til saturday, then going to walk out with the hand auger.

As of Sunday afternoon The lake was wide open and still able to launch a boat. With these temperatures the ice should be forming fairly steadily id say by the end of the week or so and we should be able to walk out safely. Ill try and check the ice every day or two. No matter what test the ice yourself with a spud bar and chipper as you walk out and drill holes every so often to test thickness and quality of ice. Ice is never safe but this time of year it can vary drastically just cause buddy makes it out doesnt mean the next guy will.

What lake are you referring too?

$ inches of snow and ice mix. That was north west side, out 50 feet. bucket fishing for sure soon and maybe shacks by the weekend. Ice is poor quality now though

Just checked the ice at Daly beach. It's two inches thick. Clear and solid too. Should be thick enough to walk out and fish by Saturday if the weather stays cool.

What lakes have been checked for ice thickness? What's the thicknesses?

Patterson is at 8” right now. Not sure about rivers, minnadosa, Anton’s, shoal lake or oak lake yet

Where are the best places to ice fish? How is Oak Lake this wknd?
