Initial feedback is I like the new layout. Will for sure let you know if I come across anything wonky. Am viewing from desktop PC with no issues.

Site looks good! Not a fan of the font on the discussion page in my opinion.

Maybe it is my old eyes going bad. The font is really small and to me it is a light grey on a white background. I have to strain to see. I really don't want to zoom the webpage to see it better.

Can you post a screen capture of what you're seeing for font? The new forum setup lets you select a picture to add right to your post (see pic below for sample).  
 
FYI We're using a font called Lato thats in use on about 10 million websites as per link below, but I'm wondering if it isn't getting picked up in your browser (thats where screen capture would help!)

"View all ads" from the same classified seller? Also, I'm old so I don't like change of any kind but your new picture is much cuter Adam!

Are we finally able to attach images within our posts? That's been a long gripe of mine. This is literally the only forum I've been apart of where this wasnt possible.

If you could post a screen capture of what you're seeing too that'd be great along with what type of device you're accessing from and what web browser you're using. Also if you see it that way in buzz posts and classifieds or just forum posts. What you're describing isn't how it was built, most likely a glitch in some browsers that I have to hound down!

I don't like that I can't see all the pets for sale on one page. I now have to click on 'cats', then 'dogs', then 'other', etc.

this is what happens to me I click on classifieds it just flash ' s & its gone .

MacGregor is missing in your classifieds selection. You had it before, just letting you know sir.  
Other than that it will take some getting used to but I am sure it will be fine. Some of us just do not like change

Thanks for the kind words all. When I started this project I convinced myself it would be two weeks of quick work and done. 2 1/2 months later it took a lot more than I planned on biting off but it was worth it to go over things with a more fine-toothed comb to modernize!  
 
Curlysister: you're meaning the heading links on top of the categories... "Merchandise", "Pets", etc, correct? Stats have shown that most folks havent used those headings and that they go into the category but will take a look a litter later and see if I cant make it jive with the new setup if some folks might miss it!  
 
Big Smo: Totally get that change isn't always easy! I''ve been in the same spot when other sites I''ve used have made updates and there is an initial adjustment period.  
MacGregor is just on the edge of the area covered by the site so slight tweaks in formula might effect. Thing is on the ad submission page and the ad browsing page it should be using the identical copy and pasted formula as before. I just made a tweak to make sure MacGregor is showing on the list.  
 
Rue: as far as I can tell the classified link works on all major platforms and we're seeing a lot of ad views and new submissions. Can you send me a private message or email and we'll work to figure out what might be effecting things on your computer or device!  
 
Pollywolly: there''s a a change to how "sellers other ads" works. There was an issue with how I was linking ads together based on peoples' email addresses. Its now a link to view all ads posted by a user account. There had already been an increase in ads posted through accounts and now the site is built to be much (much) friendlier as far as people submitting ads while logged into accounts . No needing to use a separate submission link, no need for confirmation emails, no need to login to separate ads to edit. People can still submit without an account if they'd like to through the same page in the same way they're used to doing it, but I fully expect more and more folks choosing to post ads through accounts with the site just because of how easy and convenient it is. If anyone has any questions at all on how this works dont hesitate to drop me a note!  
 
At any rate, off to get some supper and re-energize.... me thinks this is going to be a busy night for these fingers

My opinion is that this has a nice fresh new and modern look. As with any change it will take some time to get use to but so far I have found it quite easy to navigate. I will let you know if I run across any glaring concerns but so far I have to give you two thumbs up.

Still the same bug as the old site when you edit a post where there is an apostrophe it doubles up on the apostrophes. As an example refer to Brenda's last post and yours Adam.

Will you be updating the mobile app for iOS and Android?  
 
Curious as to what's going to happen with the mobile app.  
 
A little feedback would be to have the option to direct message users from classifieds, this way the app can push a notification to users when someone is interested in their ad and both parties can talk to each other until a deal is made.  
 
Another thing would be to "track" ads, the feature would be useful for ad status such as price reduction, marked as sold or if the description has been edited which would be useful when multiple items are listed in the same ad. Again, push notifications can be used.  
 
I'm sure other users would have more ideas to make the mobile app more useful and handy. This layout and design would be perfect for the app too.

When I have a discussion open, like this one, I can't see any other discussion titles to be able to click on, like I could with the old site. The other discussion titles were over on the right side. Now I have to go back to the home or discussion page to get to another discussion. Is it just me on my laptop, or is it like that for everyone?

if your using a smartphone, this new site works great. This webpage gets scaled to work on smartphones and have all the same website access that you do on the PC. There is no need for using the mobile version. You can upload images to here right from your smartphone.

Is there anyway to have a (temp?) redirect from the old m.ebrandon to the new site? Sadly the ads I had bookmarked via mobile are no longer accessible via the links!

- Maybe it's just not finished updating but I don't have any ads in my Posted Ads page.  
 
- When browsing a classifieds ad page (the list of them,) phone numbers are clickable links which reload the current page.  
 
What is great: You can now click on an ad's picture to visit the ad's page.

Add the arrow down button to get down to the end of the thread.

You used to be able to click on a category in classifieds and view them all. Now,for example,Automotive, you can not just click on Automotive and see all ads in that category. You now have to click on each individual sub category instead. Any chance of that getting fixed?

Love the passion we're seeing in this thread and in some of the notes I'm getting through the Contact section of the site. Even if I cant say yes to everything, its these exact kinds of thoughts that have helped evolve the site over the years and its awesome to see that same passion going into nudging things forward with this new setup.  
 
A few new points....  
 
- i've heard enough suggestions re the "sellers other ads" link for people that havent posted ads through their accounts that I've found a way to make it work. You'll now see it on ads in the "About poster" section. Over time the plan will be to phase out linking to "other ads" in this way in favour of linking to ads placed under accounts, but i'll do it in more of a grandfathered way as more ads are submitted through accounts.  
 
- good suggestion re adding related content below discussion threads. I've setup something this evening that works very similar to how the related content is on classified and event pages. you should see it at the bottom of the page below this thread.  
 
- i'm going back and forth on making headings in the classifieds links and will re-visit tomorrow. I know that some folks might have used them but there are pros and cons to both sides of it.  
 
- re having phone numbers being all listed directly on the item listing page (or lack thereof). Sad reality is that such a setup amounts to low hanging fruit for scammers who like nothing more than a nice simple list of phone numbers to work through. Best way to get a phone number is to look at the ad itself.  
 
- re ads that were favourited on the old mobile site. Its all the same database, so they should also show up on here if you click on the "Favourited Ads" link in your menu. If they still aren't there please send me note through the Support link and we'll do a deeper dive on your account to see whats up.  
 
- re the time on ad listing pages. How its built is to show how many minutes or hours ago if the ad was posted today. If it was posted earlier than the current day it'll show the date and time.  
 
- re mobile apps, to be honest just not on my mind this week. What I'd say is that this new site is your best way to access eBrandon on all platforms. The iOS app was always intended as a quick on the go way to access some types of content but hasn't been built as a replacement for the website itself. Might look at apps on this same frame work in the future but beyond that its really outside the scope of this thread.  
 
- still havent seen a screen capture of the font issue a couple people have mentioned. Looks great on every device I've tried but if there is a device or browser that its not showing right in I'd love to see a pic  
 
Thanks again everyone. I'll keep an eye on this thread tomorrow. I cant promise I can implement everything but user needs/feedback and balancing that with the realities of the site are all such an important part of what I do. I'm putting together a buzz post for tomorrow that'll go into some of the new features of the classifieds.... stay tuned!
