I was looking at this course and was wondering if anyone has taken it and if it’s worth the time and cost,

Worth the cost - I took it about five years ago and for ten grand, I'd say it is not.  
 
I applied for dozens of jobs in Brandon and it got me no where - the best job I could get was at a credit union (which is an underpaid position IMO)  
 
I now live in BC and to be honest it has not appeared to help me get call backs at all. Which is hilarious because employers out here seem to be all about credentials over skill. I'm in a fairly decent job now but it was my experience and presence more than the paperwork that got me the job.  
 
Now that said, it you do not have any office experience at all and want to learn basics to try and get your foot in the door - the program itself is OK, but I do think it is highly overpriced for a program you do from home. I have heard there are more cost effective programs available.

My SIL took it in Winnipeg about 10-15 years ago now (she lives in Winnipeg). It was very helpful, she was gainfully employed right after graduation in an office for several years and got her mutual funds license on top of it while working (she worked for an investment guru). He retired and she took about 5 years off to have her babies and went back to work last year. She initially got her real estate license, but then decided that wasn't for her so she immediately was able to get an office job, no problem. She worked that for 6 months and has since moved onto a different job in a completely different field but in management.  
 
So your milage may vary. She found the program met her needs especially the latter part (she sometimes complained that at the beginning it was very basic as she had lots of non-native English speakers in her class), and it gave her a good springboard to moving onto other things. But she did it right out of high school pretty much, and is a very self-movitavated.

I agree that it is not worth the cost. If office admin is something you are really interested in, I suggest investing the time and money to take the office admin diploma at ACC if able to do so. It is much more thorough and teaches a variety of skills from typing, Microsoft office programs, accounting, customer service, transcribing, minute taking, etc. The first year will give you the certificate and the second year, you can choose the medical stream or legal stream to get the full diploma.  
 
I have dealt with many students from Robertson College who were just not equipped with the appropriate skills for an office position, and from what they told me, they were only taught basic customer service courses.

I think it will be something that will always have some demand. You're right that a lot of people are doing things on their phones, tablets, etc, but in larger companies you need dedicated people. My SIL has worked for investments, coordinated truck drivers, done basic reception and is now doing a management job.  
 
As for experience, any program worth it's salt will have a placement/work experience component.
