I bought a used Gateway laptop and I did a factory reset. I didn’t know I would lose windows and wouldn’t be able to use the laptop after doing this. Apparently I need a CD or USB. Anyone know what I can do, thanks

Hi. What windows did you have installed? Do you have a Windows licence sticker on your laptop? If you have the Windows Key on it, then you could install new windows and acticate it with the key.  
As you said, you need 1) a USB, then 2) download a Windows ISO file from microsoft website, and 3) create a bootable usb.  
Then, 4) load this usb on your laptop and 5) install windows from it.  
A factory reset should reinstall windows, unless the previous user removed the hidden recovery section (which keeps a copy of windows to restore it after the factory reset).

I’m actually not sure what windows was on it. I turned it one twice, did a reset and then the blue screen came on. There is a windows button on the keyboard

Seems some professional help is required in this case. Not sure how much the repair will cost though.
