I could open the app and see the preview of each note, but if I opened the note, it appeared blank. I could share the contents of a note with myself (text) and then actually see the content when I shared it in that way.  
 
After fiddling with Samsung tech support, who put a new note on my phone, that I could see on the preview screen, another tech told me my data was lost. I can still see the preview screen now for only a few seconds. I can no longer access an individual note & share it. At least then, I could save my info otherwise.  
 
I was assured that I wouldn't lose my data when I went to back it up, but when I went to do so, nothing at all backed up on my phone and I was told by a different tech that it is lost (all other content, such as pictures, still exists). What??? I was told this app (theirs!) is no longer compatible with their newest update. Again...what?  
 
Samsung notes wasn't accessible to open & alter before I contacted them, but I could still see that hidden content if I emailed it to myself. Now...nothing. The app just shuts down. It is now worse than when I discovered the issue.  
 
I am so angry, because now I have less access to my info on there than I did before contacting them.  
 
Is there any tech smart person here that can help me? Will this app be useless (the whole app is no longer working)? Will a further update by them possibly fix this? It makes me reluctant to trust more updates.

The same thing happened to my iPhone notes. Everything was deleted.  
 
Now I have them attached to an outlook account through iPhone notes. No problems yet.

I am sorry to hear that you encountered similar. How did you attach your notes to an Outlook account?  
 
I was able to change something back (that lousy tech changed a few things on my phone & didn't undo those...not impressed) so that I can at least retrieve my content & email it to myself. That is good at least. You bet that I'll be printing all of that off. I was not impressed with that one tech. What a rude person, a liar, and one who messed things up more. My content isn't lost for good as they said, just not accessible for editing...and on top of it all, they blamed me for Samsung's latest bug on my phone.  
 
After I am done saving my content, I will move forward with other things to see if the program can be made useable again. I find it interesting that (although I don't use these), Samsung Pay & Samsung Members also crash almost immediately...so it certainly is a bug that they caused. To say its incompatible, well why design an update that doesn't support frequently used, specific to your brand programs? It doesn't make sense.
