HP laptop overheating

I have the HPTX1000 series laptop I have searched and found this issue to be quite common. It overheats and shuts down on its own. It has had 2 or 3 repairs when it was under warranty I know one of them replaced the motherboard. It had the also known issue where the screen went black but all the lights came on as if it was turned on.
Anyways, does anyone have the overheating issue and did you get it repaird after the warranty expired? Where and how much? Thanks
