MTS phone and internet service

I have a been a loyal MTS phone (local and long distance) customer ever since i was old enough to have a phone. Also been paying for high speed internet for 6-7 years with MTS. Recently i tried signing up for the $40.99 phone package through MTS and they came back to me and said "sorry not available in your area" Excuse me????? Thought we were the 2nd largest city in Manitoba?? Anyway i am wanting to test the water with Westman's the wave and possibly another phone company for local and long distance service. Just looking for others opinions on the wave and what other phone companies and i try out. Thanks all....
