geometry idea...or lack there of

looking for ideas....is there such thing as a 'perfect' prolate spheroid: I am stuck on this one.
I am trying to figure out the best way to measure the parameters of one. As a perfect circle has no difference between the major axis and minor axis: how could you define a perfect prolate spheroid.
