I haven't had much time to look into the changes re: upgrade to Win 10 from 8.1.  
 
Any comments or experiences on the free windows upgrade?

Will be doing the upgrade on one of our laptops tonight. Will post how it goes.

It's working great! My computer is actually performing better, and I'm so happy with the return of the start menu. Point for Windows!!

Is this a free Windows update, or a purchase one? I just got a new laptop this Spring and Windows 8 just isn't grooving for me....find it quite difficult to navigate!

Yes, free upgrade for those on Win7 and 8. I don't mind 7 but 8 was absolutely terrible. Windows 10 is nice upgrade like it so far.

So what do I do? I've had it with Windows 8! Non- techno geek here! Lol

hubby got that message to but it was because he first had to do some windows 8.1 updates. As soon as they were done, the windows 10 installed.  
 
I didn't switch yet because we cannot figure out how to get his email to work. Windows says it it set it up under his email account, but nothing works. Not a big deal for him, he has one mts email account and can load it online, but I have 5 accounts and want to have them all load to the same place.

I had Win 8 and liked it. Win 8.1 was terrible.  
 
You may have to upgrade to 8.1 (free) and then go to 10.  
 
I have been using and playing with Win 10 for some months now. Love it! I assume my insider preview will continue so I may never own the finished version.  
 
My Five part is continuum. Cortana I just started to use. Last word is it not available to Canadians.  
 
It did not work when I used Canadian settings but fired up when I used US settings.  
 
My desktop is touch screen so Win 10 is a blessing. d

It's a good practice to backup all of your files before upgrading an operating system.

I'm liking 10 a lot better than Windows 8.  
 
Just plucked this pretty good article out of the wild blue yonder. It's up to anyone else to do their own homework. If you have internet, let Google lead the way. I'm in with Windows 10. Maybe Microsoft is listening.

Free upgrade for now. Get rid of Vista and everything afterward.  
 
If you can take advantage of the free ugrade to Win 10, my advice is to go for it. Always a bit of a learning curve, everything is new. Microsoft is gearing toward everyday Joe and Jane. User Friendly.

On Windows 10 now that you have updated and had a chance to use it? My FIL did his and thinks his computer runs better and seems to like it so far. Anybody else care to comment on their experience so far? I'm scheduled for my update soon and as is the case with anything new I like to see what others think prior.

I had a good operating experience with Windows 7 but I must admit that after the upgrade it has improved. I did turn off all the "tracking" components Microsoft added to Windows 10 but other than that I have no complaints and am very happy with how the upgrade process was.

I find that the upgrade to Windows 10 is a big improvement. I find it easy to use and had no problem upgrading my computer.

Anyone using Windows 10 in a business environment? I'm worried about MS knowing too much of our sensitive information.  
 
I'm running Win 7, had to be dragged kicking and screaming away from XP, and reluctant to move any further if I can avoid it for now.  
 
Add in buggy client software that may or may not be optimized for anything past XP, and OS upgrades end up making me want to go back to pens, paper and scientific calculators.

I'm hesitant to upgrade my business computer too. I don't want to waste time and then find out my work software isn't compatible or doesn't play well with Win10.  
 
I guess in the future it won't matter as much as the big push seems to be everything in the cloud.  
 
Would love to hear from other business users.

Working with the Cloud might be the in thing until you can't communicate with it ie connection issues sometimes the old server configuration is a blessing

what exactly do you mean? He can send or receive emails or emails with attachemnets cant be opened? I did my update and at first glance it seems to be working great. Faster but a bit of a learning curve and now I have discovered my email with attachments cant be opened. which is a problem. Was wondering if your husband's email was doing the same?
