My credit card has been compromised so the cc company blocked it but how in what ways can it be compromised? One told me Winners in Winnipeg had few credit card compromised. Is there more chance to happen when you tap your card on the machine at the till or what.  
And NO I NEVER LEFT MY CARD anywhere as it always goes from my purse to the machine to pay and back to my purse right away. Never gave my card to anyone or gave my number to anyone.

Happened to me a while back. The only thing that made sense to me was I had bought something online from a China-based company. Shortly after a charge of $69.99 appeared on my statement from some Chinese sounding company I'd never heard of. (A quick Google search showed this company and false credit card charges was common).  
A quick call to VISA and the charge was reverse, my credit card cancelled, and a new card sent out.  
 
The key is remain vigilant, check your statements (or through online banking)and stay on top of any weird activity.

am thinking maybe tap your credit card isn't so secure as you do not use a chip number.

it doesnt matter if you tap or swipe because if they have your info they can just run it through manually or buy stuff online, I once got a call from the fraud guys because someone tried to buy gas in NY at the same time i was buying stuff here, a store from my town had an employee that stole all the numbers and sold them, after asking around many people from my area had the same issue but the CC has fraud protection and delt with it, no biggy except i had to be issued a new number .....the guys at your CC should have explained it to you and they will if you ask

Happened to check my statement last month and had a charge to Tony Taxi in Quebec. It was over $600. I called the 800 number and they said my wife's card had the charge and yes it was some kind of fraud. Her card was cancelled but mine was fine. They gave no detail. I don't think it was from appoint of sale though. Likely something like a big chain got hacked and card info was obtained.

Had this happen to mine......followed shortly after by an email from Walmart photo that their info had been hacked and stolen. Unfortunately this stuff happens far more often than you see on the news.

punishment once caught aren't harsh enough to those crooks. They should make them work and pay back all the money they took from others so they owe a lot then they will be working all their life.  
How can they sleep in peace everyday those bandits?  
I am glad I was raised better and glad I raised my kids better as well that they are not thieves, criminals. I do not understand those not nice people.
