Boxes for streaming, a box like apple or Roku work well. The Roku box is anywhere from 35.00 and up

Android boxes are popular,we have one. Would not go back to cable.

I thought all of the "steaming services" we're legal in Canada because you are only streaming the material you are not actually downloading it?

Nope. Not for CBC and CTV anyway, those are the only two I have. I haven't had cable for years.

You can watch shows from most Canadian Channels such as CTV, Global, Discovery etc. But they usually won't be on their website until the next day , and they may expire after a week or may last longer depended on the Channel/ show .You can watch on your phone, tablet or hook up to tv. You can stream live from these channels but you have to have an actual account with one of the big companies... So kind of defeats the purpose . I've heard Android boxes are really good and not bad priced.

thanks, I tried using the CTV app once and I am sure it asked me for information re a cable provider. Which I didn't have so just stopped at that point. Will try it again.

you trying to stream a live broadcast? I've always just waited a few days for an episode to show up online. Never tried to stream live, there's no shows I'm into enough that I can't wait for a bit to watch.

taking a closer look at the ctv app, it looks like availability of particular shows is pretty limited. Seems to depend on what you're after.

Can you recommend any tv apps that cast? I have CTV go. Is there any that I can try that you have tried?

...live news like ctv wpg or live sports, like NHL? Is Roku or chromecast a good option?

On Friday night returned it yesterday for a Chromecast. In my opinion it's better for what I want to watch. We like shomi, crave tv and Netflix. However want a way to watch prime time stuff. I also like to watch the home and garden network and TLC and AE for select shows. Need to figure that out so I can cancel the satellite!!

Kodi is very good but it confuses me!! Ha

Also wanting to ditch the cable but it's giving my anxiety. Lol. I am doing some research on streaming devices and I have found that roku seems to be the most recommended. I am just confused if I will be able to watch the same weekly shows that I watch with cable? It was mentioned that you use apps so if there is a show on NBC would I have to buy an app?

I could recommend a streaming app for shows but Adam would just delete my message as he fancies himself to be some sort of all knowing copyright lawyer
