I want to format my micro sd card that's in my phone because it hasnt been working properly, but I'm not able to. When I try to format it on my phone, it does nothing. So I tried to format it on my computer. When I do, it says the disk is write protected.  
 
I've googled and googled and can't find anything that will work... I've ensured the write protection switch on the expansion thing to put it in the computer (sorry I don't know the real name) is disabled, I've tried using the cmd.exe to run diskpart, and I've tried doing regedit.exe. I'm not sure I did the last two correctly, because I just followed instructions I followed online.  
 
Can anyone offer suggestions?

I can help and sent you a PM. Check it and get back to me. The card is either toast or we have to play around a little more with DISKPART to blow it up and recreate a partition and file system so you can use it again.

This is sounds exactly what happened to my card, mine is about two years old and all of a sudden it just wouldn't let me make changes to it.  
 
So I put it in an adapter (it's a sandisk 64gb micrsd) and threw it in my laptop; diskpart kept saying it was locked. And nothing I tried worked even doing a scan on the specific blocks.  
 
All of these are synonymous of a SD card that has passed it's prime and not longer allows you to change or modify data. They have a certain read/write life and after it's been surpassed just about the only thing you can do is transfer your data off and then grab a new one.

Mine is a Samsung 64gb Evo card. I bought it a year ago yesterday. I thought it might just be done but was hoping that wasn't the case... just figured I'd ask for suggestions since my knowledge in this area is limited to what I was able to find on Google (not a lot of which I understood haha).
