Looking to have our wireless wifi range extended to reach another building on the property about 300-400 meters away from the router.  
 
Am not very good with all the numbers involved with technology and would need help from people on what type of equipment needed to purchase (don't want to walk into an electronic place and being coaxed into buying stuff we won't need).....basically let me know whatever the part is called so I can buy it.  
 
(How do i know how far it will extend to if it doesn't state it - have seen 2.4 Ghz, 5Ghz and 300Mbps and haven't an idea what the numbers mean)

300-400meters away is quite far for a range extender. What you need are two wireless access points and two wireless bridge, or a powerful antenna hooked up to an access point pointing to the other building. Are there buildings, structure or trees in between? How many devices are at the other building you want wifi access to?

Yeah I've done a couple. As long as you have line of sight, it works great.
