Data was collected Friday, April 10, 2020
Excel was used to do calculations and ranking.
Ranks only apply to selected countries.
Ranks likely have changed by now (eg. USA surpassed Italy as having most deaths)
Should have i:ncluded deaths/cases
The data is available for you to do your own analysis, but keep in mind, mine was done on Friday, April 10.
The purpose of the chart was to make people aware that the number of cases and deaths is not the only way to gauge whether a country's response is working. (eg. deaths/cases or cases/pop both say different things about a response.) Sweden, for example, has a small population, but both of those numbers are unexpectantly high. Canada has been blessed by geography, lower density and a fewer number people traveling to infected countries. If you look at my chart Canada seems like it had the best response. However, that is not the only way to analyze the data. There are many factors that drive the numbers and government response is not the only factor, but it is an important one.
If the number of deaths is how one gauges government responses than the New York Governor did the worst job. I'm sure none of us believes that.
