Stats Canada is just doing the same thing, on a much larger scale.
If you woke up in the morning and tried to run your business with no information with no past , present or future stats, well, how could you possibly?
We live in a democracy thank goodness our government goes to the people to comprehend how to provide for us, other lesser governments just domineer their citizens. Are they right a hundred percent of the time …no, I am not jaded enough to think they don't try!
Not being a farmer myself I bow to your opinion on the ( old) wheatboard, but as a citizen of Canada I believe I have the same standing as you. I, personally, don’t mind answering questions whether they be many or few, if it helps the government run a successful service.

Most leading industry analysts report regularly that statistics Canada data is usually wildly inaccurate and unreliable in relation to the agriculture industry and commodities at least.
"Most" this would be your personal prospective as the number of analysts would be near impossible for you to be aware of let alone decipher, you are meaning "most" of the analysts you are in contact with.
Analysts often compare their own data against that available from stats Canada and find huge differences.
Why automatically conclude that the private data is correct as opposed to Stats Canada? "
Because year on year if you check agriculture industry data , statistics Canada data and ‘real world boots on the ground what actually happened data’ you will clearly determine that industry data is always much more accurate than that accrued by statistics Canada.
Far too many assumptions are made using little experience or knowledge and results are easily manipulated.
