I couldn’t help but be surprised that there is no discussion on this platform regarding the timing of this federal election yet!  
 
I would like to start by saying that I often find myself stuck in the middle when it comes to politics, recently I learned that this is quite common. I now know that people like me are considered fiscal conservatives, social liberals.  
 
I don’t want to bash Trudeau him self, as he is just the face of a party full of peers. He isn’t personally making these decision, much like Pallister didn’t personally make MB decisions on his own.  
 
With that being said, what are the Liberals thinking? I honestly cannot wrap my head around this one and I can almost always see someone’s reasoning for their actions, whether I agree or disagree.  
 
I had a much longer post typed out (yes longer) but I have decided to leave it at this.  
 
How are the people of BC to vote when they may not have access to their mail, their home, or even have a home?  
 
How are farmers in western Canada to vote when they are in the middle of a very important harvest? This is a pivotal moment for them as many farmers will have their make or break or moment in the coming weeks. It doesn’t matter how late the polls are open, our farmers will be working before they're open, and after they’re closed.  
 
What about our small business owners who have been closed down for months and cannot afford to hire employees, are they expected to close their doors to go stand in line in a crowded place during a pandemic to cast their vote?  
 
This is 1/2 of our country, and the 1/2 that has the most volatile industries currently under stress, the ones that feed this entire country and inject cash into the eastern part of this country.  
 
Please take a moment to take this into consideration. The Liberal government has proven time and time again that they are oblivious to what is happening in the western half of this country and even though I think the Liberals need to go, I still don’t think this is the time for it. I would rather have them for longer than go to the polls right now.  
 
As I mentioned above. I feel so stuck in the middle when it comes to politics, but this election I will be voting with my fiscal beliefs in mind as I will still have control over my own social beliefs (ex. my body, my respect towards visible minorities and people of the LGBTQ+ community, and my part in climate change). If I voted with my social beliefs in mind I could not say with confidence that I would have the same control over my fiscal beliefs.

Not a good time for an election! Fourth wave coming and we're supposed to go out and vote? And like you said about all the hardships the country is facing right now. SMH!  
PM Trudeau wants to know if the Liberals did a good job at handling the pandemic and if the country agrees with their plan going forward? Take a poll if that's what he needed to know!  
IMO, Trudeau wants a majority so bad but when questioned if he would resign if a majority isn't achieved he would not give a straight answer!  
I shudder to think if the Libs get their majority....

There hasn't been much discussion about the upcoming federal election because nobody in the west cares. Ottawa doesn't care about anything west of the Manitoba/ Ontario border. Rumor has it that when Trudeau came the the west a week or so ago, he had to get a map of Canada just to find out where Manitoba was. It doesn't matter if the west votes out almost every liberal party candidate, nothing will change......oh wait, we did that last election and nothing changed. I'm sure Mr. Trudeau will tell us in the west about how he's going to make election reform so the west will have a bigger say...oh wait, he did that 2 elections ago. and nothing changed. Western Canada can go 100% blue conservative and nothing will change.

Please come back Mr Harper. Your country needs you.

What I don't like to see are dramatics such as "I can't wait for so and so to lose the election so I can breath again"  
Or "what's the matter with you that you want to vote for so and so"  
Whoever wins, in any election, the sun will still come up the next day and life will go on.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree with you, except when my government bans my property, nullifies its value and essentially turns me into a criminal at the flick of a penstroke.  
 
Its funny, I think of myself as a live and let live kind of person, I've always supported the legalization of weed even though i can't stand the smell of it, but within a year of it being legalized my hobby gets prohibited lol

wonder how far the Conservative party will go a appease the the Trump /MAGA voters? Already many don't think the Conservatives aren't trumpian enough for their tastes, so they will go for the other more right-wing parties like PPC, Wexit and others. You see how far the Republicans have gone to please the Trump/MAGA crowd. Conservatives today seem more interested in idolizing their leader like a god.  
 
While I agree with some of the financial policies of the Conservatives, it's their social policies, resistance to science and not wanting to joint the 20th century that really turns me off. So that's why I'm more liberal and vote Liberal.

This is Canadian politics. We don’t have a strong trump maga thing. Our conservative leader is nothing like trump and isn’t trying to be anything like trump. To often I see yourself try and blur the lines between Canadian politics and American but they are completely different.  
 
Last time there was a riot in Canada it was cause we lost a hockey game. We all know how often there is a riot in the states.

Its true a lot of american republicans idolize trump, but do canadian liberals not idolize justin trudeau just as much.  
 
He's like teflon, nothing sticks to him, blackface multiple times...check, groping scandals...check, numerous ethics convictions...check, claiming hes all for womens rights then turfing or forcing multiple female mp's to resign because they wouldn't blindly follow and support him...check.  
 
Who idolizes O'toole, any links or sources on that lol ?

Have you actually looked on the Canadian conservative Facebook pages? They are full of trump supporters. Many conservatives in Western Canada identify more with the US Republicans and the US way of doing things. Most would love to have Trump as Prime Minister. We have Conservative MP's supporting Trump and MAGA policies. Many of the talking points made by Canadian conservatives are the same as what the Republicans and Trump supporters chant. The Conservative party here is much closer to the Republican Party than you realize.

I don’t think for a minute that the majority of Canadian conservatives identify with Trumpism or MAGA, a few maybe but not mainstream.  
However when Canadian federal governments continue to ignore or actively snub issues arising in Western Canada and particularly rural ridings it is easy to see how the electorate can feel disenfranchised and become more sympathetic towards some more right wing thinking. What most people miss is that alienation of pockets of the electorate by politicians and ignorance towards parts of the population is often what causes more extreme views.  
I should add that I am not particularly supportive of any particular party, nor am I eligible to vote in Canada and I certainly disagree with the idea of a separate western Canada .

really want to know the direction the Conservative Party is going, check out the pages of National Post, any Wexit, Canada Proud or it's divertives, Yellow Vest and others. The sentiment of the all of them learn towards Trump's Republican Party and Trumpism.  
 
Trumpism is more mainstream than you think.

You have LOTS to say about how terrible the Conservatives are and I've seen your absolute distaste for anyone Conservative on other Facebook posts. You hate everything and everyone Conservative and I have seen it .  
So I have to ask, do you see any bad in what the Liberals are doing in Canada or do you have your blinders on to all the wrong they have been caught red handed with? This is a serious question to.

how did Harper win multiple times? He was Prime Minister from 2006 till 2015. Him and the Conservatives got booted because the country got fedup with them. Harper has still been in power longer than Trudeau has.  
 
All of this boo-hoo the west gets neglected is nothing more than crying. The biggest problem the west has is that we refuse to get with the times and that's the key part of conservatism. I think the west needs to join the 21st century and adapt in many areas.  
 
Ontario is the most populous province in Canada at 13 million, followed by Quebec with 8 million. Alberta has 4 million, Saskatchwan has 1.1 million, Manitoba 1.2 million. Combined the prairie provinces have only 6.3 million residents. Which is less than Quebec and Ontario. Even British Columbia at 4.6 million would only be 10.9 million west of Ontario. Ontario still has more people alone let alone the 21 million if you combine Ontario and Quebec. So why should Ontario and Quebec have to bow to the will of us in the west? They have more seats in Parliament because they have most of the population of Canada, 21 million of the 38 million in total.  
 
In the US, the Electoral College give more power to certain states as well. So those states tend to get more attention than the others and others get neglected.

Oh no, I say terrible things about conservatives!! Does that hurt your feelings?

And the Liberals are bad?

There were only 3 people paid to speak at We Charity events.....Trudeau's mother, Trudeau's brother, and Trudeau's wife. We are not talking just about reimbursement of costs, we are talking paid to speak. Then they are given an un-tendered contract worth over half a billion dollars (originally reported as over 900 million, later revealed as closer to the half billion number with no explanation of where the other 400 million was to go) and the We group gets over 40 million prepaid to them to cover administrative costs.  
 
Yeah, that's a fake scandal alright.  
 
I took my Canadian flag down when that fool was re-elected in 2019. I want nothing more than to put it back up again but he has to be gone.

The campaign promises they created for an election they wanted to happen long before Trudeau called it. It's a little out of date now, Trans-Mountain Pipeline has been cancelled now.

Honestly I feel like whoever wins I will end up screwed so I have to figure out which is the best of two evils. Either conservatives get in and drop the child care agreement ( which means daycares will most likely continue to struggle and even more will close due to financial issues) or the liberals stay in and I’m shelling out all my money to carbon taxes. It’s a sad state of affairs when you feel hopeless for whoever has control over the country.

people shouldn't of been paid for their services as private individuals? Those speaking engagements had nothing to do with Justin as Prime Minister or the program in the summer of 2020.  
 
No other organization had the ability to even administer such a program. We Charity was the only organization that had the ability to administer such a program.

Those speaking engagements had everything to do with them having the Trudeau name and relationship. Lets talk about old maggie for instance. She earned the most talking about her mental health issues at these events to the tune a quarter million. Sure, teen age kids love to hear a 70 year old in a frumpy sweater meander on about her mental health, (insert sarcasm here) but you are seriously going to try and tell anyone that anything she has to say is worth that kind of loot?  
 
It was graft. We know it, you likely know it, and Justin knew it, which is why he prorogued parliament to shut down the inquiry.  
 
As to We being the only group able to distribute the funds for "volunteer work" during a pandemic, that is laughable. We had to leave the country...gosh, how does anybody get a government cheque these days.

Deficits need to be Eliminated. Government spending needs to be controlled and targeted. Budgets need to balance and services can be determined from that point forwards. It isn’t new, it isn’t rocket science, it’s common sense and simple mathematics and forms the foundation for a sustainable economy.

Trevor. I read news daily weather it be online. News paper whatever. I never see anything in the national post about conservatives and wexit together in there. In fact anything wexit hasn’t been talked about in a long time. I haven’t seen a yellow vest thing in ages either. These are old talking points that don’t hold any factual evidence.  
 
Your personal opinion might skew anything to be “trumpisms” whatever that means but I think your personal distaste for trump skews you from the actual facts. Go to the conservative website for Canada. Show me some “trumpisms” or some “wexits” or some “yellow vest movements”. I don’t see any of that nonsense your speaking of in any Canadian politic platforms. But maybe I’m not looking for the needle in the haystack  
 
In any country your going to have cells of extreme people. I’m sure there’s cells of far left socialist in Canada as well.

Thank you for this post. People seem to have forgotten these fundamental principles. Maybe people forgot the saying money doesn’t grow on trees. But the taxpaying citizen tree has certainly been picked fully almost. under JT we cannot keep this kind of spending without consequences up its unsustainable without something giving. The only thing i see breaking anytime soon is the taxpayers pockets.

Trudeau said he doesn't care about monetary policy. That should seal the deal for his majority!

A small correction to your assertion that Wexit hasn't been talked about lately. The Maverick Party is the rebranding of Wexit, and they have been in the news as they intend to field a fairly substantial slate of candidates in Western Canada.  
 
The coverage hasn't been positive or negative, just reporting along with their establishment as a party and their getting ready for the election.
