Anyone actually finding a benefit to this program?  
I personally am not impressed.  
 
With increasing food prices, the only products you can accumulate points on are products being pushed by the business.  
 
How at all is there any benefit for the customer?

We tried to give it a shot, had the scene+ app downloaded before they even implemented it. scanned card a few times, no points. Got to looking, ohhh you have to go to a completely separate website, Scene Grocery or something to add the offers, have a different login for that than for the scene app itself and then on top of that have 2 step verification everytime you open the app regardless of saying "remember me" to login. compared to how well the others points apps seem to work this one is ridiculous, at least at first glance from me.

But since Sobey's/Safeway switched from Air miles to Scene+, if you bank with another banking institution/Credit Union, is there really any benefit to the average consumer buying their groceries at Sobey's/Safeway to get points on this card? You only get points if you buy certain products, products that are being promoted by the store. You do not get points based on how much you purchase.  
 
While I am doing some reading about how to maximize points on my card I may end up cutting it up as it seems useless to me. I do not like being influenced by businesses on what products I purchase. With rising cost of living, my product purchase will be influenced by the cost of the product not how many points I can get on the Scene card. And I am certainly not switching to Scotia bank based on many horror stories I've heard about this banking system.

I’m a long time Sobeys shopper. I’m there at least once a week for $250-300 shop. I saw my air miles points rise, and it was way easier to use. I like having a physical card, for starters. Also when I would get my bonus weekly offers from Air Miles, it was products I actually buy and use. And my air miles accumulated quickly.  
 
I applied for Scene 4 months ago, still no physical card. So I have to always make sure my phone is on me. The points are not adding up, even remotely compared to Air Miles. The bonus offers are for multiples of items or products I have never nor will ever buy. Not a single one is for things I buy. So no bonus points. It’s absolutely horrible.  
A couple weeks ago, my Sobeys was having technical issues, and the cashier assured my that I would get my points her words “ I promise you will get the points, it just won’t show on your receipt, but you will get them in a couple days.” Almost 3 weeks later, no points for that week.  
Last week I spent my usual and only got 25 points (need a 1000 to get $10 off). Gonna take way too long to accumulate without bonus points.  
 
So not happy at all.

We were all in on Air Miles - with a premium credit card, used Air Miles Shops, and purchased gas at Shell and groceries at Safeway. On average we would accumulate at least 15000 Air Miles per year (12-1300/month), and use it almost exclusively for flights and hotels. Once we even went on our winter vacation using Air Miles. The credit card offered a companion flight once per year which has been great for trips within Canada to pay for a child or spouse. When rental cars were through the roof this spring I used Air Miles to rent a car for a week in Nova Scotia, and pay for two flights. From time to time we would buy merchandise (I bought a Sonos system using points). For us, points are for travel. Cash back isn't what we are looking for.  
 
I know Scene+ allows flight bookings through Expedia, but it mostly seems designed to give you cash back on groceries and free movie tickets (if you have a Cineplex which we do not!) I am not interested in switching banks to take full advantage of it. For those who want to reduce their grocery bill, I see the benefit. For us, who like to travel for free, it just doesn't do the trick. I will collect the points but only to get my $10 off from time to time.  
 
In the meantime, unless Air Miles gets another grocery partner in town (not likely) I may have to switch to something like Avion and use our Avion credit credit more to replace the benefits I had from Air Miles. Unfortunately, the switch has done damage to Air Miles and although the program won't die, I think it will suffer in the long run.

You have to buy too many of one product to get points in many cases. Buy 6 cake mixes and get 1000 points. No, I don't think so. I might use 1 cake mix per year so I am not buying 6. So, I buy what I buy and will get $10 off my groceries here and there (redeemed once already and can redeem $10 again next visit)-but it sure won't give me anything near what I got from Air Miles.

I didn't find Airmiles that great either especially at Sobeys. They were also but multiple to earn 10 miles. Not saying Scene is any better. But the way I do is that I have a Scene Visa and I earn much more points that way.

So far, just an annoyance. Have on desktop & require a 2-letter verification code to access the program/info - really??? Who would want to steal it.
