| | DarMar said "campaign ad(stating the absolute truth) that should enlighten you as a voter is by the Liberials featuring former Mississauga mayor of 36 years Hazel McCallion.
In this ad she is calling out Harper and his cons for attempting to once again mislead the Canadian people by stating that Justin and the Liberals plan to eliminate income splitting for seniors. She likens their actions to the phone scam artists that seniors get.
Of course the Liberals only plan is to reverse income splitting for the high income single income families as stated in their platform and publicly numerous time by Justin. These familiies obviously do not need a tax break if they are in that income level.
But no, Harper and the Cons deliberately once again set out to mislead and scare seniors into voting for them. Pierre Poilievre defends their statements by saying well if you against income splitting for families you must also be against income splitting for seniors.
Of course this is such an absurd statement to say the least, does he think we are all complete fools who can't think for ourselves???
It's time to stop tolerating these blatant untruths being able to be so boldly told and get out the boot!!! " |

Families in that income bracket don't need income splitting??? WTF income do you make?
Let's be realist here. I know a guy at work who makes 19.05/hr. His wife makes 12.55/hr. Both are hard workers...very hard workers. They have 3 kids. So lets do the math on this.
Man woman total
Yearly income: 39,624 26,104 65,628
Income tax: - 5,943.6 3,915.6 -9,859.2
Prov tax: - 4,477.91 2,819.23 -7,297.14
______________________________
Take home 29,202.49 19,369.17 48,571.66
Not including CPP or EI deductions
Now let's deduct the basic house hold expenses for this family from their take home income.
Take home income: 48,571.66
Rent (1,200/month) -14,400
Hydro (130/EPP) - 1,560
Childcare (3 children) -23,400
________
9,211
÷ 12
________
764.58 (rounded to the nearest penny)
64.58 to pay for food, clothes, baby items, medication, prescription medication, transportation to/from work and childcare, and anything else this family may need.
Income splitting so his wife can stay home?
No federal taxes (because now below poverty line for household), no childcare.
Income: 39,624
Prov tax: -4,477.91
__________
35,146.09
Rent: -14,400
Hydro: - 1,560
__________
19,186.09
÷ 12
__________
1,598.84 each month to allow for monthly food and necessities. Rounded to the nearest penny. (And of course CPP and EI would also be taken from that.)
This pretty much would sum up the lives of most Canadians.
Don't tell me that income splitting is unnecessary. Any government who says it isn't necessary is only lamenting the lost taxes from the government coffers that demand a government who is more fiscally responsible.
Based on this alone...I will be voting conservative. (There are many other reasons I will be voting conservative as well.)
Don't get me wrong, the Liberals, the NDP and the Green Party all have positive aspects. But many of us live in the lower income/lower middle class income. Simply put, most of us cannot afford the price tag that comes with most of the options. We live within our budget: we should be voting within our budget (or what keeps our income in the hands of those who have sweated for it...us).
