6 straight years of deficits and more than 150 billion dollars added to that debt under Harper rule the odds are that hope and change is bound to cost us less.

Not all Conservative voters are a monolithic "group think" entity. We actually do think our own thoughts. We haven't all had our common sense removed and then been re-programmed by wacky university professors to think the politically correct way. The ones who didn't go to university probably just listened to and watched too much CBC.

Conservative supporters are "continuing the politics of fear and loathing?" You must have forgotten about all of the attack ads that were run against Stephen Harper during previous election campaigns. Surely you must remember all of those "Stephen Harper Is Scary" ads that were run by the left. One ad in particular had a lot of blurred Nazi looking red, black and white images in the background and it was clear by the content of the ad that they were trying to equate Stephen Harper with Hitler. There were others, including some ridiculous reference to him having wolf eyes. Seriously, did you people on the left really believe that our current Prime Minister was a werewolf?  
 
It's been five years now since Stephen Harper got a legitimate majority government. No ones rights have been taken away, not even the rights of women, as some of those attack ads implied would happen. We still don't have a Gestapo and there are no concentration camps. It would appear that all of those "Stephen Harper Is Scary" attack ads were wrong.  
 
I can drive around Brandon and see election signs that appear to have been deliberately damaged or ripped out of the ground and tossed on the street, in the ditch, etc. Most of the time they are the Conservative's election signs.  
 
I can remember seeing Stockwell Day having chocolate milk thrown on him on national television by some supporter of the left. The "tolerant, non-violent" left have quite a history of throwing everything from rotten tomatoes and chocolate milk to rocks at political candidates who are right of centre. Just watch the tactics of the left when they show up to disrupt one of our campaigns and shout down one of our candidates. Funny thing is, it's not very often that you will see any of us hateful, narrow minded Conservative supporters, as those on the left like to call us, do any of those things to a Liberal or NDP candidate.

So much hysteria against a man often for things other people did. So few facts to backup that hysteria but lots of fear just like the last campaign.  
 
As for those swayed by Justin & Mulcaire wanting real change, of course they want change. They are politicians. At every election they will want to be the ones in power andhave things change to be their way.  
 
However, we won't see change. If liberals get in, is just a return to everyday liberal governments.  
 
If NDP got in it would simply be Manitoba problems inflicted at a national level.  
 
The ideathat our country will be transformed into a new land of opportunity by electing old parties just isn't realistic.

The Liberals and NDP are not the same party yes they are both on Left side of spectrum but Liberals are actually closer to the Conservatives than the NDP or Green in their thought processes and policies.  
Also since people like to point out 60% of Canada voted against Conservatives in last election, 70% voted against the NDP, 81% voted against the Liberals and 96% voted against the Green party.  
Inform youself, don't just go by "buzz words" and talking points.

Don't tell me that income splitting is unnecessary. Any government who says it isn't necessary is only lamenting the lost taxes from the government coffers that demand a government who is more fiscally responsible.  
 
Based on this alone...I will be voting conservative. (There are many other reasons I will be voting conservative as well.)  
Don't get me wrong, the Liberals, the NDP and the Green Party all have positive aspects. But many of us live in the lower income/lower middle class income. Simply put, most of us cannot afford the price tag that comes with most of the options. We live within our budget: we should be voting within our budget (or what keeps our income in the hands of those who have sweated for it...us).

This election is one great big Care Crash! We are all piling up on the boulevards and roundabouts with no idea who we are in a land we have let others plunder and sell from under us. When the smoke clears and the injured and dead are removed from the scene...we likely will have another election. A Civil War would have been less damaging to our self-conceived illusion that we secretly carry around with us as a Nation. Ask for forgiveness from God and Love thy unlovable neighbor- before we actually start shooting at each other. God Bless Canada and Blast those everywhere against us.

Sorry but tell me again why I should care what a well past her due date mayor of a Ontarion city has to say while championing Kathleen Wynne, and Justin Trudeau. Why is anything she has to say relevant? Somehow you seem to hold her in high regard yet have probably never heard of her before she decided to campaign for Trudeau.  
I don't like or endorse the behaviour of a lot of people of all political stripes during this election! But please don't trot out some senior ex mayor as some sort of idle we must listen too. Most here don't care and the rest have never heard of her, she's irrelevant!

I took it, and although I did end up getting the party which I would have voted for anyhow, it wasn't as high a percentage as I would have thought. I am not saying that we should use the results of this quiz to decide who to vote for, but it is kind of interesting to see what he end results are.

This election isn't about Manitoba, the only real change to red is happening in Ontario and the liberals would rather you hear her than talk about the cost of buying votes.

You can find something to like (or hate) about each of the political parties.  
Not a Conservative, never have been, never will, but one of Harper's promises I actually liked was a $2,000 tax credit for single seniors.  
Not so crazy about the increased limit for tax-free savings accounts as most people I know are hard-pressed to scrape up the allowable amount now.  
It all boils down to what's important to each voter and which party seems to offer more of what they want.

The public is giving too much value to the proposed Liberals’ tax break for the so-called middle class. At most it is worth $670 to an individual earning $89,401. If you earn $50,000 the tax saving is $79.49.  
 
The Liberals appear to be defining the middle class as individuals with incomes from $44,701 to $89,401. A married couple earning, say, $40,000 each get no benefit as they are not considered middle class under this Liberal Policy. Two $50,000 incomes will get the family a combined return of $160.00!!!  
 
In my case, I earn just over $60,000 and my wife runs a personal daycare. Cancelling income splitting will cost us thousands. I guess we are the Rich people the liberals want to punish?

You know, DarMar, I am not traditionally Conserative. Historically, until the last two elections, I have always and without fail voted Liberal. But I always base my decision on the candidate I think best for the job in the current circumstances. I still think Harper is the best of the choices available.  
I get it, some people are opposed to the Conservatives winning again. Obviously, you are one of those people.  
But it will not change my mind, because most people I know fall into the class of the working poor. And to be honest, I am disgusted by the "rape and pillage" tactics shown by the liberals, ndp and the bloc. Yes, "rape and pillage"...violating and raping our democratically elected government system by coalition strong-arming the elected government. Pillaging the income of the most vulnerable...the lower class working people, and our seniors.  
Trudeau does have potential, but he is sadly out of touch with the realities of the majority of Canadians. Maybe next time I will vote for him, but I am certainly not going to vote for him just because he is liberal. I need more from my electoral candidates than just being someone famous or because their father was PM of Canada. Justin Trudeau is NOT Pierre Trudeau (who also messed up in some aspects: as every government does). If Justin Trudeau can demonstrate growth, and responsible decision making skills over the next 4 years, then I will reassess at that time. But this time, I do not agree with him and where is ideals are headed. Plain and simple.  
As for NDP, I just can't vote for them based on what they have done to this province, what Saskatchewan is recovering from and what Alberta is going through. I don't believe that either the NDP or the Liberals are what they were 20-30 years ago. Neither are the Conservatives for that matter. Only difference is that Conservatives have seemed to make a concious effort to help people keep the money they work and make sacrifices for.  
 
You vote liberal, DarMar. I will vote Conservative this time. You follow your beliefs. I will vote not only for the realities of my life, but for the realities of my friends, family, co-workers and every other person struggling to survive, any race, any age, any income level and any nationality.

If it's of interest to you, the liberals fought against the conservative bill that lowered the tax rate to 15% for the lowest earning Canadians. I think the liberals claimed their red book offered a better tax plan.

Harper's income splitting gives absolutely no benefit to families where both spouses work at low paying jobs because they are already in the lowest tax bracket. Worse yet, single parent families get zero benefit from income splitting. Then there is the child "care" benefit. Did you realize that even families earning $millions per year [i]still get the same credit?[/i] And worse yet, that extra benefit to the rich is the reason why services are being cut and $35Billion is being cut from healthcare? Does that sound like good financial planning?  
 
FWIW, Trudeau has never advocated eliminating income splitting for seniors on pension. Anyone who says otherwise is a flat out liar. That would be Pierre Poliviere, for one. Oh.. Harper for another.  
 
Also, one more thing - for those who think Trudeau has no idea about what middle class is, and Harper does, do you know what the last non-political position was that Harper held?

How do you prorogue an election???

Your bickering about the child care benefit makes no sense. !!!  
 
Yeah , anyone who has kids in the eligible age groups recieves the benefit.  
 
But the more you make, the more of it you must pay back to government.  
 
So the blanket statement that even those making a million dollars recieves the credit as well, don't forget they will pay it all back to government in taxes.  
 
In fact it's not even the ultra rich who must pay back this ' benefit ' in full. Most middle class families must pay back entire benefit.  
 
So it's not really a benefit for most Canadians , just the lower income earners. The rest of us must pay it all back.

What was Harper's last non-political job. What job has Justin ever had?  
 
Pension splitting for seniors has nothing to do with eliminating family income splitting. Stop playing word games and speak the truth!  
 
If you earn more than your spouse and have children and you are not rich, say goodbye to your tax savings.  
 
Correct, if you are both average Manitoba earners, Harper's income splitting does nothing for you. On the other hand, unless you make more than $50,000 taxable dollars, the liberal plan also offers you nothing.  
 
Just to be clear, you appear to be defending the poor but you failed to address the liberal vote against lowering the lowest tax rate to 15%.

The judicial inquiry found McCallion broke “common law principles” when aggressively pushing the failed $1.5-billion project being planned by a company her son had an equity position in.  
 
1.5 billion dollar Liberal mistake.

Single parents don't get a tax cut?? I am a single parent. FYI, single parents can claim "equivalent to spouse" on tax credit...as in having it recognized that it is a single income family...doubles your personal tax credit. HUGE difference.  
And yes, even that has been disputed by the liberals and NDP.

and the tax rate has been 15% for the lowest earners since at least 2005 so not sure when the Liberals voted against this. In 2005 the lowest income earners paid 15% if they earned up to $35,595 ($43,953. in 2014) and in 2005 if you earned $115,739 or more($136,000 in 2014) you were taxed at the highest rate of 29%. There are other categories in between taxed at 22 and 26%. One thing that has changed though is the amount of tax credits and a much more complicated 2014 tax form. If you have other information I missed somewhere I'd be interested in knowing your source. An interesting series in Macleans magazine is "Election Issues 2015" that gives you the breakdown on where each party stands on several different issues. Ooops, I just looked back to 2004 tax form and it was 16% for the lowest income so I apologize to Loeog - that must be what the liberals objected to.

Yes the rate changed from 16 to 15 percent for the lowest income bracket. That change pays the lowest income the most return.  
 
The liberals are offering 1.5 percent to people with taxable income in the 47 to 90 thousand taxable range. Their great deal pay 58 dollars at $50,000.
