We used to have a cabin up there, and it was the same thing. I was told it's because the water lines aren't buried deep enough to handle a freeze (only a few inches in some spots), so they need to shut them off early to avoid a problem. Even when the weather is nice, they still shut it off early to ensure they don't get a surprise freeze. " |

Even provincial campgrounds that are open past the long weekend (many or not) don't promise that there will be water service after the long weekend for that exact reason.
You can't predict the weather even 2 or 3 days in advance sometimes, never mind a couple of weeks. There's no way to know what the weather in September would be like. It makes sense that some places would simply shut down if they have to turn the water off.
