ECONOMICAL SUPPORT TO A BU INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
9/21/2009 at 7:10 PM
Would you like to provide an economical support to a BU International student?
The Spanish office at BU is looking people willing to help a Brandon University international student from Venezuela. He needs economical support to cover part of his personal expenses. He came to Brandon one month ago. He is studying and playing with the Bobcats Men´s Volleyball Team. This boy is taking the program English for Academic Purposes which has a very high tuition (each 3 months session costs C$2500, a non-refundable deposit of C$300, plus textbooks). For this athlete it is not easy to be here, his parents (lower middle class in Venezuela) are making a huge sacrifice paying for the EAP English program, accommodation, and food.
He needs help for buying basic thinks such as soap, toothpaste, cereal, medicines, shampoo, among others personal needs.
He is willing to get some money doing any kind of work, but International students have not allowed to work outside of Campus and right now inside of the University there are not many options for him.
As you may know, students studying in Canada on a student authorization are not eligible for any student loans or scholarships offered by the government or by Brandon University.
If you have extra money and you want to make a good use of it helping this athlete-student, please contact the BU Spanish instructor, Ericka Serrano. My phone number is 573-5360 or send an email to serraneo23@brandonu.ca
Your help will be very valuable for the personal an academic success of this student.
