WOW!!! What a storm!!!

I was just outside watching the storm roll in, went inside to get something and the winds just picked up. Then the rain and now it's passed!!

I live on south end and emergency crews are going hard somewhere. Judging by the weather radar maps this is only the beginning. Looks like a good one in about an hour.

Yes, I was also going to comment a lot of sirens in the south end. Hope everyone is ok. That one came outta no where.

But I am just hearing fire truck, police and ambulance sirens. Is something happened due to lightning?

Possibly tree branch broke and fell on a powerline.

Short but packed quite the punch. Rain gauges only picked up 2.8mm and 2.2mm but it's the short amount of time it happened over that was significant. Going to guess wind gusts were 90km+... Enough to toss a lawn chair a good 20 feet in our back yard.

Little concerned about the amount of sirens going off somewhere in the city?

There looked to be something going on in either an alley or a house on about 13th and lorne. There was a a bunch of emerg vehicles over there both fire and at least one cop car. couldn't see smoke or anything but there was a lot of trees and whatnot in the way.

Witnesses telling me a hydro poll was on fire on Patricia Ave and may have spread some to a tree. Crews appear to have taken care of, not a lot to see any more thankfully.

A more technically accurate des:cription might be that flames were in the vicinity of the lighter coloured hydro poll in the picture I added. Sounds like may have been a branch on the line from the tree you see that's just over the poll.

Wow what a wind! We unfortunately lost yet another shade tree. But yeah, they were easily 90+ km/h winds!

We had tons of very small hail too. Good thing it wasn't any bigger or our gardens would have been in trouble!

Think prev poster might be referring to 1100blk of Louise? Sounds like another power line issue, fire dept, ambulance, Police still in the area. Resident nearby tells me their power is out.

Bit of a scary sight on 16th St that could have been worse. Large section of an old tree came down in a front yard with part of it just falling on part of a roof.

FYI Environment Canada doesnt have measurements from the storm in Brandon (they're taken at the airport and it sounds like it didn't see the brunt of it)... but to give an idea it sounds like a gust of 89 was measured in Wawanesa. The irony in all of this is I have a wind gauge sitting inside my house and am trying to find the best way to set it up

What an odd storm. I could see sheets of rain out the back door that stopped practically at our fence.....my patio only got a sprinkle.

And the front of my house? Not a drop - sidewalk was dry. Lots of wind that only lasted a few minutes.

Nah....probably thought my yard was already so healthy it didn't need any more.

Was out today repairing my Bar B Que after yesterday's wind caused it to tumble off the deck. Bent and wobbly but still cooked tonight's burgers.
