I recently purchased an iTunes gift card and when I tried redeem it, a message popped up saying the code was invalid. I tried typing in the code and got the same message. I also got a card for Christmas and that code is also invalid. I’ve started a chat on the Apple support (I’ve currently been waiting over an hour with the same “ we’ll be with you in about 2 minutes” screen. ) Just popped on here to see if anyone else has had the same problem and what Apple did to solve the problem. I have the receipt for the card I bought and also for the one I got for Christmas. Any information would be a great help.

The same thing happened to me a month ago at Sobeys. Someone slit the bottom of the envelope and took out the card. When they put it back in the card number on the outside was different from the number inside. I contacted Apple and they give me the run around and told me to take it back to the store. The store told me to call Apple. After being on the phone a total of 4 hours with Apple , they told me to go back to the store and ask the manager to refund my money or I was supposed to tell them I was calling Corporate Office. I did get my money back without having to call corporate.  
Now the store hangs dummy cards on the rack and you take it to the till and they get a card from customer service for you.

The police put out a warning a few weeks ago about a similar thing with prepaid visa cards.
