I am trying to get my photos and videos from my iPhone to my computer. My computer runs Windows 8. I plug my phone into the computer with the USB cable. My phone asks me if I trust this computer, to which I say yes. Then I cannot find the iPhone on the computer. I have taken photos and videos off my phone before. I think I connected the phone in the same way, then went to 'this pc' and it showed up under 'devices and drives', but now it does not. Any ideas what I am doing wrong. My 9 year old is away at camp or else I would ask her what to do!!!

On the laptop I use I go to file explorer- this pc - and then find my iPhone under devices and drives ( it says Apple iPhone ) - internal storage - dcim - in there I find a bunch of different folders all containing my pictures ( sorted my date I think ) and from there I just save it. This is on an Acer running Windows 8

That's what I did last time. But now the phone does not show up under devices and drives. All that shows up is the C and D drives, neither of which are my phone. I knew I should have stuck with Windows 7, I really dislike Windows 8!!

iPhones never show up under devices with a photo folder, go to iTunes and export the photos

I will try that. But that is definitely NOT how I did it last time, as I don't even have iTunes on my computer!

.....does show up as an external drive but I use iTunes to export the photos.
