I just broke my iPhone 5s screen and ive been I looking into the cost to buy a used Samsung Galaxy s5 and it is much cheaper than fixing my phone so my question is can I just transfer the sim from my iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy s5?

So long as the Samsung is either unlocked or was a phone from the same carrier you have now, then yes you can do that.  
 
Your contacts won't transfer over though, unless you have them saved on your SIM card as well.

depends on the size of the card, not sure what size i5s uses but if its the same then ya you can, as long as the phone you buy isnt locked or is locked to the right company  
 
if the card size isnt the same then it isnt a lot to buy the card size you need however screens replacements usually aren't that much, did you shop around, try ebay ect

Yes you can. Replacement should cost about ten bucks.

You can also download a program called Samsung smart switch and it'll take the most recent back up from your iPhone (from iTunes) and put it onto your Samsung for you. What I would do is, plug your iPhone in and back it up right before you do the smart switch and then you'll get everything that's on your iPhone, onto your Samsung

Please get a new SIM ,after running an I Phone as a stand in phone I switched back to a Samsung S4 I have always used Android the I phone was a short term gap ,I wish I had never seen the I Phone because Apple had registered my Cell number on I messenger without me asking ,,and despite trying everything that various forums ,Apple advice etc told me too they would not let my number out .And I know folks will say just turn off I messenger whilst the SIM is in the I Phone it wont work and then what happens is that you fail to get SMS messages to your new Samsung from friends on other I phones also lots of messages simply don't download because I messenger and SMS are not compatable ,,so get another SIM or even another I phone and save yourself possible trouble

To fix that issue, just change your apple/iTunes/iCloud password by logging on at their website. Otherwise the imessages will continue to go to the iPhone even though you switched sims.
