Anyone else have horrible wireless internet at home? Mts came and tested mine and suggested I get my own wireless router to strengthen there wireless router. I thought that's what I was paying them for. They said my router was in a bad spot, even though they installed it there, and to move it they would charge me. Thinkin it's time to move on from mts, there service is too expensive and never seems to work.

yup mine too,i got them to move my router out of my basement cause we are paying the $85 one and still needed to pause a 2 minute youtube video. Since its been moved its a bit better but not worth it

I could not recommend more that everyone get their own home router. Using an ISP provided router is not your best option. When I was running speed tests with my MTS router I was getting anywhere from 0.2 - 5.5mbps. Because it runs on 2.4GHz and everyone around me is running the same thing, I was getting a ton of wireless interference. Went to BestBuy and bought a $50 dual band router and now every device that runs on 5GHz is getting 25mbps every time. It wont help switching providers, they will also provide you with a 2.4GHz router and you will see the same issue. What every ISP will tell you is that they provide you a basic internet connection and any home networking you need is up to you.

I thought it was always a no-no to use ISP provided routers. They are shit. Get a proper store bought router with PROPER wi-fi and you won''t have any issues. MTS and other ISPs offer these free wifi routers as just an extra bonus to their service and it should not reflect poorly on the actual internet connection itself.  
 
Home networking is not something you should leave up to ISPs. If you're going to do that...you may as well stick to a wired ethernet connection or you will be disappointed.

Mine working fine. We have a wireless router btw.

I had a fight with MTS over it last year. It turns out that there's around 20 people (mainly MTS customers) that use wi-fi around my apartment and area. I suspect some of the people are using netflix and are gamers. Some people change channels on their router and get on your channel. The routers MTS use are fairly old and only have a dozen or so channels. So you could get a 3rd party router or just 'hard wire' your internet.  
 
For all its worth, in looking at Westman prices for internet, they might be a better option.

I had Mts and had issue after issue of being slow even tried going up in price thinking that would work...NOPE  
 
Westman is sooooo much better and super fast!!!

MTS should not charge you to get the wireless working in your home, see this discussion.

We struggled in SK and were told straight up by the provider's IT tech that we'd be better off getting our own router because the ones provided by them just didn't cut it for today's needs of most households. We did that and initially experienced better connectivity until we started using only internet for all programming. Had same issues after moving to MB, using the same router, but with Westman service. Last week, I bit the bullet and bought a more expensive router. So far, it has been good. For us, it's worth it as we don't subscribe to any cable or satellite providers, saves us data overage charges and cuts down greatly on the frustration of intermittent connectivity.  
Just as an FYI, we can easily have 6 devices running simultaneously utilizing online gaming and video streaming. I paid about $300 for a D-Link triple band router from Staples.
